This looks amazing. I can't wait for it, I think it has the potential to be the best X-Men film so far. All those Mutants marching behind Magneto, wow...
heh, what are your opinions? Think it's going to be amazing, or a flop? Looking forward to it, dreading it?
What do you think is going to happen? Who is going to die?
I have a theory... Spoiler
Towards the end of the trailer, we see Magneto baring his teeth, and there is this storyline about the "cure" for Mutants. I think that they're going to make Magneto human. Kinda chilling and horrorifying for that character.
They seem to be loosely following some of the more imprtant comic storylines, and if your spoiler means what I think it does, it would be way bigger than what you think.

Rev, if I told you, it'd spoil the whole thing. Let's just say
Spoiler
magneto keeps his powers (mutants are already humans, BTW), an entire country (Genosha) gets completely wiped out, and a few X-men (some who have not yet been introduced) lose their powers.
In any event, it's unlikely the movies will follow the precise course of the comics, mainly because there's too many comics to do in what will probably be less than 6 movies.

I would be sorry to see Magneto lose his powers or be made human. Despite everyone thinking him a bad guy. I do not think he is truly evil - at least in the context of these films. Spoiler
So Magneto loses his powers altogether in the comics?
btw, what's he like in the comics dAN? Is Sir Ian Mckellen's (Sp?) presentation of him good? Does it do the character justice?
I haven't read the comics either, but Beorn has and I had him watch the trailer. He's trying to figure out if that's supposed to be Phoenix or Angel shown with the large white wings in the trailer. He said if it's supposed to be Phoenix that he'll be highly disappointed, in the costuming anyway.
It's clearly Angel in the trailer. The comics are good, or bad, depending on the artist/writer combination, which changes ever couple of years. Right now, Astonishing X-Men has the best combo, and there are about a half dozen X-titles, not including the titles of individual characters.

Beorn will be glad to hear that. With the hint of Phoenix to come at the end of X-2, and Angel not being intrduced yet, he wasn't sure if it was Angel or not.
But for a 12 year old aspie who was only introduced to the X-Men comics last year (his science teacher has them all scanned on to the shared drive in his classroom), I guess I should be pleased that he even recognized that it could be Angel from the brief view in the trailer on such a small display.
If they plant the seeds for a "Dark Pheonix"saga as is in the comic books, there will have to be additional sequels.I am still holding my breath for a solo Wolverine film.
The comic story-line has gone all over the place. The only ones I've kept and still read regularly are the 4-part "Legion Quest" and the "Age of Apocalypse" series, X-Men Alpha to Omega. Still the best story-line ever.
The REALLY scarey thing is how they take people who have played ... interesting ... characters in other things and turn them into formidable mutants. Nightcrawler was the Fooglie guy in Spy Kids (and usually plays other silly roles like that - he's very good at it!). Beast? Dr. Henry McCoy? Nope - Dr. Frasier Krane (Kelsey Grammer). Talk about a change of pace!
So Magneto loses his powers altogether in the comics?
The computer I was on didn't seem to like displaying spoilers, don't know why, and don't really care. Oh, and thanks for pointing that out.
Anyways, who is this Angel guy? Was he a really popular X-Man? I don't think I've heard too much about him. Apart from wings, what are his skills? Is he the X-men that is the "source of the cure is a mutant?"
Angel was an original X-Men member. (Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Iceman, Beast, Angel)
he has had his wings torn off, became an agent of Apacolupse (metal wings and turned the color blue) i think he's back to what you saw in the preview now)
one sidenote, Angel was in one of the more interesting superhero groups in the 70's. if only for a short time.
Angel (mutant)
Iceman (mutant)
Hercules (demi-god)
Ghost Rider (human host of a demon spirit)
Black Widow (russian spy turned hero)
Darkstar (another Russian woman)
