Interesting....in my Runes version, the humbled are Larry, Moe and Curly....
Now if I could just find a way to wear live bees as jewelry all the time.....

I voted against Linden - she was weak (and borderline traitorous) in the second Chronicles, and now in the Last Chronicles she is pretty much worthless.

I second that poster about wanting to kick her in the nuts (hahahaha!), take the Staff and ring and get around to FIXING things!!!

My favorite passage: "Covenant exploded, 'MOVE!'" I wholeheartedly second that motion!!!!!!

Late to the party as usual, but thanks for the topic and poll, dlb.

Yes, I like Linden.

It's quite possible. I haven't heard of anyone else commenting on the maple-flavoured aliantha or that the Ranyhyn are moose ....
Usivius, you slay me. Now I've got stuck in my head an image of Linden riding through time on the back of a moose. However, it does tie into the next book ---> Fatal Ruminant

That requires too much effort

Not at all,I figured out how I felt about her,and then moved on.It was only after,I read the final pages o the "Were you disapointed ...." thread that I was reminded of how I felt about her in the latest books, and the books themselves. :-x :-x

I am and have always been a big fan of Thomas, and want him back in the series in a major way, like, yesterday.

Since the poll is the star feature of this thread, I'm very pleased by the number of votes in favor of Linden.

When Linden became a topic at the beginning of the first series, someone typed BURRRNNN HERRRRRR...(name omitted for safetys sakes)...any change of heart?
I hope not, cuz I say BURNNNN HERRRR ANYWAY!
And now a gratuitous slam:
Lazy whiner, crying, B*tchy, overly useless 'I dont know how' complainer with hiking boots and cant walk a league without sounding like she is gonna pass out cold cuz she is useless.
Thank you. I feel better.

Well, most people answer polls how they'd like to be perceived.
Most, the shallow and those lacking any kind of personal conviction, will answer a any poll in a positive way to feel good about themselves.

But those that are confident and feel good about themselves will answer honestly about how much they hate Linden.

Nah.

Its that people who get dumped on day in and day out by the rest of the world have an urge to find someone that they can dump on. And sometimes a defenseless imaginary woman is all they can come up with.

The rest of us don't need an outlet for venting pent-up impotent anger.

Personally one thing that I feel that people get cheesed off with Linden is the way she acts. I would imagine most of us would act in a similar way to Linden if we happened to be transported to an other else where.

So, of course, I like Linden for not having all the answers and being like the rest of us.

I like Linden for so many reasons I'm having to write them all down in the form of an epic poem.

But yes, I feel too many people see themselves in Linden.

I Liked her alot more in FR than runes. Even though she goes from one emotional crises to the next she just seemed a little too "Lovie" (i know thats not a word) for me.
Spoiler
In FR she is showing a darkside that makes it alot more enjoyable.
But cmon, she called foul an A-hole. That was great! You have to like her a little for cursing in a way we can understand.

I liked here pretty much from the start. I was excited Covenant got some real world company to the Land, and it was obvious she would have something essential to contribute if Foul was to be beaten this time.
When she starts getting in her power in WGW i liked her even more. Before that she seemed a bit too passive and... uneffective. And when she made the new staff and beat the Sunbane... Wow. Powerful reading!

In the last cronicles i think shes good too. But she lacks her dynamo; Covenant. Together they build synergy. Linden on her own is a bit too introspective and to reactive character. In FR i cant help feeling shes falling into those Foul snares again, even when shes sure shes not.

One interesting difference between her and Covenant is that Linden feels like a good character almost from page one. Covenants road to clarity seemed a whole lot more full of twists and bends.

Maybe thats why some people dont like her?
