Yes, it's completely overrated. Life of Brian is far superior.

"Men and women range themselves into three classes or orders of intelligence; you can tell the lowest class by their habit of always talking about persons; the next by the fact that their habit is always to converse about things; the highest by their preference for the discussion of ideas." - Charles Stewart

"I believe there are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations." - James Madison

Soylent Green. The revelation of this movie doesn't make any sense; it seems the whole movie is set up for the revelation, including abandoning logic or realism for it.
GAH!Holy Grail is awesome! But I must admit I do prefer Life of Brian.
Agreed.

"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

To be honest, I never really liked the ending of Holy Grail. It's patchy overall, but funny enough to get away with it. Brian is a far superior film.

At the risk of losing my geek status (actually I may have already done that...): I cannot follow or even stand The Adventures of Baron Von Munchausen, or however it's spelled. It's supposed to be a "cult" fav, but I just don't get it...

Grail is OK...nowhere near as good as most of the rest though. Danlo's right...it's better after a fat spliff. ;) :D

Life of Brian is my favourite Monty Python though.

As for von Munchausen...awful. Also historically the biggest movie flop ever (adjusted for inflation) IIRC.

I thought Wayne's World 2 was funny....I could have been biased by the gremlin limo and the Aerosmith cameo though....

Ok, so I'm banning Loremaster, Cail, dlbpharmd, Avatar, ... anyone else?

I don't know what you all are talking about. Holy Grail is my bible. I've literally seen that movie a hundred times, and laugh each time.

It was nice to know you all, but yes, I do have to ban you all now.-jay

Hahaha!

Goddammit, I laugh EVERY single time I look at that picture.

It must be because I think the original book title is the best title ever, so by the transitive property, a joke of that title would have to be the funniest joke ever.

Ok, you can stay...for now. :P

Oh, and Ni!-jay

Oh, and I didn't mean to take anything away from the joke at all. Even without it being a pun of the best book title ever, it's still a damn funny joke.

Hahaha! Bah, there I go again.

I'm never going to be able to ban you.-jay
