Watch it, Wadds... my wife was born in Everett. She didn't stay, though ;)
...although now I think about it, my mother-in-law spent a lot of time there. Hmmmm....

NOTHING GOOD COMES FROM EVERETT! NOTHING!!!! Just ask her, she'll tell you.

But I'm going to change my answer, anyway. I was born and spent the beginning of my life in the LBC. (Long Beach, CA) The LBC is/was the home of Sublime.

And Sublime is really all that matters.

Michigan City, Indiana.

The beach:

A better shot of the lighthouse:
home.neo.rr.com/rodsphotogallery/Lighthouses/Indiana/HTML/MichiganCityLarge.html

You have now seen everything worth seeing in Michigan City.

Actually, over the past 15 years or so, they've put in a shipboard casino and an outlet mall, so there *is* some stuff to do now. When I was growing up, basically in the summer you went to the beach, and in the winter you watched high school basketball, and that was pretty much it. (There was an article a couple of years ago, in the Washington Post travel section, about how northern Indiana/southwestern Michigan is a cool place to visit -- antique shops, good restaurants, etc. -- and I thought to myself, "What's WRONG with you people?")

Famous people from Michigan City:
Nobody.
No, wait: Wikipedia says Anne Baxter is from Michigan City. Who knew? Also Don Larsen, who apparently pitched major-league baseball for awhile. And Achy Obejas -- hey, I know her! Her mom taught Spanish at my high school!

Of more interest: John Dillinger did time at the state prison in Michigan City. Supposedly several Chicago gangsters had homes in Long Beach; one of 'em, Capone maybe, allegedly had a gun-shaped swimming pool.

Oh, and if you've read any of Andrew Greeley's novels, his characters' families all have summer homes in my neck of the woods.

Hollywood, FL is where I moved to when I was nine, and stayed until I graduated high school.

Accordig to Wikipedia, the following are famous residents of Hollywood:

Bethany Joy Lenz-Galeotti, actress
Bella Thorne, actress, model
Victoria Justice, actress, model
Tracy Lindsey Melchior, actress
Jamie Westenhiser, Playboy Playmate
Erasmus James, defensive end for the Minnesota Vikings of the NFL
Joseph Trohman, Fall Out Boy lead guitarist
Michael Mizrachi, World Poker Tour winner
Janice Dickinson, model, author

I think most of y'all will know Hollywood as being the city where the Seminole Hard Rock Cafe and Casino, where Anna Nicole Smith recently died, is located.

Tell City, Indiana:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tell_City

I always say that Tell City is an excellent place to be from, though actually being there gets old pretty quickly.

No notables that I am aware of, but Florence Henderson (best known as Carol Brady from the Brady Bunch) is from nearby Dale, IN.

I do sometimes, when I've got the bandwidth. Otherwise it's too frustrating.

I'm pretty sure it's Google Earth that the Kevin's Watch Location Map (www.frappr.com/kevinswatch) uses...

Pretty Guns!

MIL is from Madison. FIL is from Sheboygan. They moved to NYC before Paul was born.

FIL's parents moved to central FL when Paul was young. Paul doesn't ever remember visiting Sheboygan. But I learned how to 'fry' Sheboygan double brats from FIL anyway.

:::hmmm...danlo, how does a bratfry for elohimfest sound?:::

MIL used to bring Paul to Madison every summer to visit her dad and stepmom for a month. But my impression is she left him there and returned only to pick him up.

Neither of them have given me any reason to want to visit either town. But Paul says UW-M has a terrific History of Science department, which he hopes to apply for a position at once he finally get his Ph.D.

(it's all moot at this point though; I don't think that dissertation is ever going to be finshed...)

Yes, once for a wedding. I liked the campus and the historic district a lot! It was hotter than a pancake griddle there though...I got off the plane thinking my lungs would sieze up. Sheesh!

I almost took a radio job in Tell City when I was fresh out of college, Dukka. Ended up working in the big town of LaPorte, IN, instead.

Yeah. Unfortunately we don't have a large lake with coastline in the city. But, both the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico are only an hour away, depending on if you head east or west!

Well, being too lazy to go out and take photos myself, I scoured the net for pictures of my home town. Being a wee little place, I only found one, so I've added some pictures of the nearby city of Nott:

Image
THE MAIN STREET OF R-o-T, MY HOME

Image
NOTTINGHAM'S 'OLD MARKET SQUARE'. (This actually no longer exists; over the last couple of years, the Square has been under 'redevelopment', so now all the trees, steps, fountains, statues and so on have been removed and it's just a load of flat slabs. Damnation.)

Image
A RANDOM STREET IN NOTTINGHAM

Image
NOTTINGHAM CASTLE. (Yes, it isn't a castle, much to the disappointment of international visitors. I call it 'Nottingham House'.)

Image
THE GATEHOUSE OF NOTTINGHAM CASTLE. (This bit does at least resemble a castle.)
