Someone uses text from LFB on their website to draw google hits.

Turn off safesearch, go to google images, and search for "Saltheart Foamfollower".

I think they are called "Sporgeries" or something.
As in a "Spam orgy"?
:lol:

Years ago Usenet was being flooded with them.
I mean, the Tolkien group I frequented had thousands per day!
It made for some difficult work to get through them to find legit posts if you were a newbie like me and didn't know how filters worked.
And I agree with Vain, some of them were pretty damn interesting in a nonsense kind of way.
I was reminded of them when someone here posted a link to a page where you typed in some key words and the program wrote a story with them.
This sporger would add the names of Tolkien characters and regular posters to his sporgeries just to make it seem more real too!

I used to get these really cool mails which had no links or ads. Instead, they were just a couple paragraphs from random books stolen from project gutenberg (online book archive site thing).

Now all I get is "fix your erectile disfunction", "blah blah bankingmoneyfreecar" etc.

Recently I got a pretty cool one though.

And up there I cannot tell if it is still
and the numbed yards will go back undercover.
Cascading snowflakes settle in the pines,
Where, as I discover as I go through
I might have happily lived some other childhood.

He terrifies the Vast, he seems so wild;
