Ah nonsense man, it's not so bad. :D Let's also be clear that we're not exactly over-run with wildlife...I mean. it's there, but not in the cities and suburbs and stuff. My uncle's place is relatively, although not seriously, rural.

Sadly not for the poor bugger who messed with the beast! Lucky guy had his hand re-attached thanks to the wonders of modern surgery.

Here's some of my pics with my new 3mp cam/phone thing. Not from a zoo, but animals are still found in unexpected corners of woodlands:

Haha, that bird's got character, Spiral J! He's got grouchy uncle written all over him. Good shot.

This is Debbie:
Image
She is 40 years old, apparently the longest-lived polar bear in captivity. After she dies, we will not be able to have another polar bear unless our zoo's present enclosure undergoes a major upgrade. It no longer meets criteria set forth in a tough piece of legislation - enacted ironically by our own province - that determines where in the world Manitoba polar bears may be sent off to. No doubt this measure was in response to grim stories of polar bears that suffered in ill-kept and hot places like Mexico. So even our zoo doesn't make the cut. However, the zookeepers here say that Debbie is happy in her present home, and it would actually be cruel to suddenly change her environment now as she enters her remaining years. In the coming years, it is hoped that the mere prospect of a polar bear-less zoo in Manitoba will embarrass our politicians into approving the necessary funds to build a new, state-of-the-art enclosure.

Cool, they've got rhinos! Good shot of them, Reave. :)

Also like that shot of the ostrich.

Thanks!
I'm jealous of the Rhino shot: my lady grabbed my cam from me (after getting tired of me taking pictures past her while she was driving).
She slowed right down, took the shot with one hand and looked at me as if to say "Happy now?"

They had a baby tapir too. It was being fed by it's mum when I was photographing the dad. Later I saw it trotting around... very funky and cute! They kind of have stripes like young wild pigs (although they aren't closely related).

The dad ostrich reminded me of a velociraptor with feathers! Massive feet that could cause a lot of damage I imagine (just like that gorilla in jelerak's pics).

It is a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach! - YUCKY!!!!

I think more the animals - and that they save a lot from shelters. No Christian themes at all.

I like your pictures - they B&W Tiger is waaaaaay cool!! BTW, what's film?! ;)

Jelerak, I like that gorilla shot. "No, you can't have my banana..."

Lovely B&W shots, Luci. (Hey now, Creator, don't start dissing film, it has served us well for the past hundred years.) The peacock is marvelous!
