interesting, but the energy that is needed for that role is just not in Peter's body any more.

(I loved him recently in Troy, though ... wow...)

O'Toole is still alive?? Why did I have the impression he had passed away? Maybe I got him confused with Richard Harris.

Can't think of anyone else for Havelock at the moment...but I have this vague image of John Lennon during his long-haired hippie days...

I'm just putting up photos based on other's suggestions in MN the Movie thread--my choice for Havelock may be George Carlin--but he's almost as old as O'Toole. I favor DeNiro or Sean Penn as Lebbick, but here is a recent suggestion,

I thought Havelock was already an old fellow in the story, so I assumed having older actors play Havelock wouldn't be an issue.

Yes, I can see Mickey Rourke as Lebbick. He's got that brooding intensity that's needed for Lebbick. Penn and DeNiro have that quality, too, of course -- that sense of violence bubbling beneath the surface.

Like O'Toole as Havelock. Not so sure about Lebbick though...didn't he have grey hair? Sorta imagine him as a more square-faced, more used looking guy.

Good pick, danlo! Ed Harris would be excellent as the Domne. (Heck, he's excellent in any role.)

Can't deny that Lohan is a fabulous looking redhead, but if the choice was between her and Julianne Moore, I'd still go with Moore. Too old? Don't know about that.

Ah, Steven Fry. Excellent! He has the talent to play the perfidious, highly intelligent and scheming seductor.

A hair makeup, and loosing about 20 punds, and he'd be perfect physically as well.

Danlo: Lebbick is somewhat older than Rourke I think. And I also imagine him as "brawny in the more old fashioned way", meaning muscles hidden under a little more flesh than Rourke can boast.

It occurred to me that the shot of Mickey Rourke posted by danlo was taken before the actor's botched cosmetic surgery. Ironically, I'd say that post-surgery Rourke's frightening visage suits Lebbick even more, at least if you're going for the "crazed" Lebbick.

What? Is he "a la di da poofter" IRL too? Or is it just his roles in Wilde and Peters Friends that makes you think thus?

Yes, he falls for his own gender. No big deal, he does not fuss about it too much.
