(I think the plan is to barely start RS, and then read FR for a while, and then finish RS. But FR is only 13 days away and we haven't assigned chapters yet...)
yes. i'm a slacker AND busy with school and had a difficult time finding time to begin this thing.
sorry. :P

and waddley, you never signed up so i didn't know you were interested.
malik wrote:There needs to be an option for: start this week, but then take a break for a month after FR has been released.

I tried to look through the chapters to pick one. Yes, some are very short. At this rate, we'll cover the first 10 pages or so in a month or more!

Okay, so forget the idea about taking a FR break. This should be fairly easy to do both at the beginning.

But I am NOT rereading that damn essay at the end. No freakin' way. If someone is going to summarize it, I'll read that. But once was more than enough. It takes two ideas, joined together in an interesting way, for his projects to really take off. Fine. I got it. That's all I need to know.
ok don't read the damn thing then! :P i had wanted to have a sort of direction for the discussion and dissection and thought the essay would give us that but Avatar kaboshed that idea saying i couldn't dictate how anyone else approached their discussion of what they read. fine. :P free form then. read your chapter and post what you will.

i didn't feel FR publication would be a hinderence in doing this read of The Real Story and from everyone's comments, figured we would take a break between TRS and the rest of the series for FR, but perhaps i didn't make that clear. sorry again.

so...

all you outspoken people, tell me how you want to do it and we'll do it, now or later, while you're reading FR or not, whatever you'd like to do.
if you'd like to abandon it till after FR, fine. if you would like to forge ahead, fine too. i'm easy.

Well, unless we do a chapter a day, it's now impossible to finish RS before FR. I'd be up for a chapter a day, myself. That's not too fast to read. Commenting and responding will be a different matter, though.

my original idea was to do 3 chpts per week. 18 chpts, six weeks.

we have enough people to do that and as i said, the chpts are short.

I think you should do the first chapter hon, it would be fitting for you to start it off, since it was your idea.

also it would give everyone more time to get their's done, because I'm sure you would be late with it!!

Just wanted to say, I will be part of the group read, but I won't be able to get my hands on the real story and so I'll just be chiming in a bit until we get to book 2.

yes chpt 4 is still open. in fact, no one really had any preferences except drew and avatar and now you, wf.

so i will post chapter assignments tomorrow, Saturday, Sept29.

if no one has any objections, i would like to do three chapters per week.

that means everyone gets from saturday to saturday to read their chapter and post their commentary on their particular chapter.

by doing 3 chpts per week, we can get the book done in 6 weeks.

each chpt will have it's own thread.

the first three chapters should be posted on Saturday, October 6th.

there are still folks who signed up to do the thing with us that have still not replied to my initial pm. not a problem, kigirl has joined us and we may pick up a person or two along the way.

thanks for your continued patience.

I'll take whatever is left over. I don't know which chapter is which. So just assign me one.

Ok, so I read the essay at the end. I take back what I said earlier--that's a fascinating read.
