ah...

Although Hyperception and I have worked hard on attempting to fix it, because of circumstances in our seventh year of marriage, now nearly 14 years ago, my response would be the innocence and joy of my marriage.

But there is still love, security, and...connection.
The work has been, and continues to be, worth it.

When I got laid off a few months ago...it was totally losing something;
NOw; they ask me to come in every now and then and work...and the work is way harder than it was before...so I guess that counts.

I have no idea what you're asking.

"The only way to hurt someone who has lost everything, is to give him back something broken"

Have you ever lost anything, that would be even more heartbreaking, if you got it back broken?

That's what I assumed the question meant anyways.

I have a friend who is still my best friend and he got sent to prison...he had been in and out of prison in three year stretches... in for three years out for six months back in for three more years..going on his 4th three year stretch so the thing i have been given back broken was my best friend.

Oh.
Thor used "has" rather than "lost" so the question had little meaning to me.
(plus it was badly phrase, Thor :P )

I still question the point of the question though.
What made TC's comment so powerful is that he really did lose everything of his old life. I don't think one of us losing an item and finding it again but broken even comes close.

man, this is a bit heavy and personal isn't it?...
;)

and as HLT points out, few have experienced anything of total loss as TC did, however it is all about personal perspective .. so in that case I will say: "time"

evasive, but personal.

My wife has spent the summer out of a job, so we're behind on most of our bills. Now that she is finally working again, we can't get caught up. And just when it seems like we are going to gain a toehold, something comes along and puts us deeper in the hole.

Stupid truck.
Covenant turned in time to see a short figure detach itself from the burning mud, step queasily onto the hard ground.

The figure was scarcely taller than the skest, and shaped like them, a misborn child without eyes or any other features. But it was made of mud. Flames flickered over it as it climbed from the fire, then died away, leaving a dull brown creature like a sculpture poorly wrought in clay. Reddish pockets embedded in its form glowed dully.

I want to apologize to all who are confused by what I ment.

To clarify - What thing(s) have you lost and been given back broken?

Yes, it is heavy and personal but in my experience, and I admit this is new to me as well, the first step to healing is to admit to others how you are hurting, even if it is in genaral terms rather than specifics.

Agreed.
And we are all capable of choosing just how much of ourselves we are willing to share.

Good topic, THH.

The game Dark Tower. One of my favorite games and I thought it didn't work anymore. I tried it out a few years ago, and it did work, but not nearly as well as it used to. It's poor little brain is starting to go rotten.

If I may guess, I don't think he was talking about "things", I think he was talking about what we have lost, just as TC lost. He is asking us what we have lost in our lives, and what was returned to us, damaged and broken.

I understand your question. It is difficult because I think we are all walking with a broken piece in our hearts.

In my case, it is dreams that were given back to me broken…..but at least I got them back, even if they are a little chipped and scratched.

Well, actually, I was talking about this, but I never realized the connection. Hmmmm.....

There is a problem here Thor, in that the original premise is that the only way to hurt someone who has lost 'everything' etc...
The emphasis here is on the 'everything' and few of us can meet this criteria. But I do know where you are coming from with the question, even though my own answer to the thing(s) I have had returned broken are a little too personal for me to be happy to go into here, I applaud your bravery for asking the question and also your motives for doing so.
Your politicians screwed you over and you are suprised by this?

Heard my ears aright? Did not the gaddhi grant me this glaive?
