...the events that are described in it!

TDAGD takes place over, what, two days? Yet it took me about a week to finish! I think this is the first time I've ever encountered a book like that. Most of the time, books are like, "And then two months passed." Not these ones :)

"The Man Who" mysteries take place over a very short period, especially Risked his partner and Tried to Get Away, from memory.

But yeah, the timelines are definitely short - I'd forgotten the timeline in TDAGD.

Most of the scenes in Dune are like that (not the book iitself, where the events must be taking place over several years)

The dialog in particular, where it takes a few pages to describe what must be happening very quickly in realtime (Paul/Jamis fight, Paul's test with the Gom Jabar & pain induction box, almost any dialog involving the Bene Gesserit where the subtext needs to be explained, etc.)

Wow, High Lord Prothal. Many a long year since you've been around. :D Welcome back.

I must say I'd never noticed the timeline of TDAGD.
