Just Came Today!

Post by Stutty »

After years of apathetically half-assed attempting to secure this series, I have finally met with sucess. Mirror of her Dreams and A Man Rides Through just showed up in my mailbox.

Looking forward to a long slow read, and then to your discussion threads. Must savor these. 'Tis yet two more years until I see more Donalsonian words I've not yet spyed before.

Sadly, this seems to be a sub-forum visited as much as the dungeons of Orison, dully lit by dilligent flame, yet infrequently tread.

Not quite done with book 1, but I want to say... "wow."

SRD has amazed me again. To hell with the darkness of TC and Gap, here's an amazing mystery/shakesearian/fairy tale with all the political intrique of master level chess (... um.. hopboard.?.. don't think that's near the metaphor we need.)

Bah! I'll be reading this for months.... luckily, I've got the ancient runes of the forum here to keep me occupied when I'm done.

Cheers mates!

I much prefer Mordant's need to the Chronicles. Glad you're enjoying it!

I have told SRD to his face that the Mordant series is my fave. It is one of the few series that I can read and actually crow with joy, sob with sorrow and spew curses in outrage and that is still true with multiple readings. It holds some of my most favorite charactors of fantasy fiction that I have ever read. In fact I love or love to hate every charactor in that series. It's brilliant.
Now if I could just find a way to wear live bees as jewelry all the time.....

Mordant's need is my favorite too. Basically what Jenn said, without quite as much sobbing...

Except for Teresa's totally weird, infuriating character, I loved it, too.
I think she took that line from the kids' song "Row, row row your boat" about life being just a dream waaaaay too literally. Kind of an opposite of Covenant. Everything just...happened to her. Like her own will was absent for 80% of the story.

Just a little rant about something that I really enjoyed.

Mordant's Need is my favorite SRD book, also.

Funny thing happened when I looked at this thread. I read "Just Came Today!" and then glanced at the author, and I thought it said "Slutty". Funny shit. No offense intended, stutt, just a trick of the eye!

Personally, two days ago, I picked them up from the public library. I've read them several times before. I can't say that I have a favorite series, because you get so many different things from the different series. But Mordant's Need is very, very dear to me.
Covenant is Linden Frankenstein's monster.

I maxed-out Tetris!
