His prey were carefully selected. They were all women, living alone in small Texas towns, ranging in age from 59 to 91. They were all raped, assaulted or burglarized.
And, police say, they were possibly all the victims of a state prison employee living in Missouri City, a newly married man they believe may be the elusive Twilight Rapist who targeted a dozen disabled or elderly women in Central and South Texas over the past two years.
Billy Joe Harris, 53, who operated BDK Healthcare, a home health care company formed last summer, was arrested early Saturday and charged with burglary of a habitation with the intent to commit a felony other than theft, said Col. Steven McCraw, director of the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Harris, a food service manager at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice's Terrell Unit in Rosharon, was captured by two Edna police officers after bolting from the apartment of a 59-year-old disabled woman who had just been sexually assaulted, McCraw said.
