How do you keep up with news?

Post by deer of the dawn »

I am convicted that I need to catch up on world events. The newspapers here are not too useful, they're all tabloids to one degree or the other; and it's world news I'm interested in. I also rarely get any TV news and don't currently have a good enough radio to make listening to BBC a viable option (the signal wanders too much and it's just work even listening for a few minutes).

For a time I was getting the BBC daily e-mails, and I think I need to reactivate that. But how do other people here keep up?

I read the BBC News website pretty regularly (bbc.co.uk/news). I also get a lot just from Twitter, since people are often sharing links (and I follow BBC Breaking News on Twitter).

I also like BBC, I actually looked at CNN.com today out of curiosity and I had to laugh at how much like a BBC.co.uk clone they look like. Same color scheme, tabs, etc.j

I do have a Twitter account but haven't looked at it in... I don't honestly know. But if you can get news Tweets, it sounds worth a try.

Mostly I harvest headlines/topics from BBC, CNN, Fox...
[It's kinda funny how much BBC...both "real" BBC, and a station BBCA[merica] there is on tv and radio here in the middle of the U.S.]
Then go all over the place online to try and dig up the whole story.

the hyperbole is a beauty...for we are then allowed to say a little more than the truth...and language is more efficient when it goes beyond reality than when it stops short of it.

The radio. Don't watch the television and don't have a national paper, just the local weekly one. If I hear about something and I want to know more I go to the BBC news chanel.
I am playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order!

Free local newspaper (put out by the Washington Post) during the week, Washington Post home delivery on the weekends. Otherwise, links to articles on Facebook.
