deer, is there a seasonal food or beverage you're consuming at this time of year and not at other times that could be triggering the migraine?
I was wondering about the onset of rainy season, which occurs in April. There isn't any diet or med change going on. :? I dunno.

Just came from a memorial chapel for a student who died of sickle cell anemia a month before her 13th birthday (she passed away during our spring break, almost 2 weeks ago). I didn't know her but it was brutal since the migraine makes me emotionally raw to begin with, and as a mother... cripes.

But I am feeling better today, and I know I will get through this, and only 2 more months till I go to Disneyland (America, that is) for awhile!! *fistpump*

Don't blame Phil. Have you ever watched the proceedings in Punxatawney? They haul that poor guy out by the scruff of the neck whether he likes it or no. Blame those top-hatted Pennsylvanians.

prayers sent Deer. I also suffer from migraines.

we smoked three days of meals today on the smoker outside. I took a piece of the cooked meat and threw it over the fence for the gulls.

while the birds fought over who would get to eat it, three turtles crawled up from the river and tore the meat apart, leaving none for the gulls. :)

and then a dozen or so turtles made the trek to eat the leftover bread the gulls hadn't bothered with.

I am the turtle king.

Null, that would make a great story, told from the turtles' perspective. :)

No relief from migraine today. Sheesh. I keep thinking, "This too shall pass". And it will. Thanks for hanging with me.

For me, the headache comes and goes, along with light and sound sensitivity, weakness, depression, insomnia (in spite of being dead tired). Mornings are the worst. Since it's afternoon, I feel pretty good right now. But I also know that the drive home in Nigerian traffic will be a real drag. Edit: I realized something good from the migraine. Increased sensitivity includes my taste buds. Everything I ate yesterday tasted really, really yummy!

I'm thinking about giving away all my WGDs. I was considering a contest of creative offerings-- photos, poems, whatever-- so everyone "gets" something out of it. Is that incredibly lame? Is it just the migraine talking? Or should I go for it. Really, I have all these WGDs and I don't need them.

Well, you all know where the preponderance of my WGDs go...although I did send a few to the recent winner of my round of Name That Book.

Have you ever checked out Win Wayfriend's Money? He already does contests like this. Another thread by you would be fun, to see what sort of challenges you come up with, or you could donate your WGDs to wayfriend so he could run another contest.

Deer, hope you're feeling better. I think you should have a competition and put it in Mallorys just to mess with Menolly.

Oh and thanks SD for the WGD's - all 28 of them

I have hurt my back, and it is bloody painful. I know a few watchers have had back issues, so I'm sure they'll sympathize!

Yeah, I usually dump mine on WF when I notice them building up so he can do more contests. I just noticed though that his prize is only 500WGD and he has plenty.

Up the prize money WF, and I'll contribute to the fund again. :D

Menolly, gods, I just noticed you have over 120k.

Nowhere near the count Jenn has though.

In all fairness, while the most recent Win WayFriend's Money contest was only a 500 WGD prize, the previous contest distributed 11,111 WGD.

Time for our new WOTY to run another contest, though...

Feeling weird right now.

I criticised a comic on Twitter, and the artist replied. I got all nervous responding to him with explanation for my criticism. (I suck at talking to people.)

Edit: And now the writer, too!

Then my Twitter feed started filling up with stuff about Hugh Howey, particularly people linking to this blog post: The Bitch from Worldcon, which has mostly put me off from wanting to read his books.

It's all got me in an odd mood.

Hi StevieG, be as patient as you can with your back, and when it's better, work slowly on core strengthening and stretches. And get some treatment if you need it. And use heat packs and ice packs. And take two of these with our without food...

Sympathies to sarge and deer suffering headaches and migraines. No migraines yet - touch wood - but I'm in constant headache territory too. From what I hear it's gonna get worse so I'm bracing myself. (Started high dose antibiotics for the Lyme this week.) Apart from that, and spending 3hrs at the docs yesterday because they couldn't get the IV to work, I'm chipper! Actually, I've taken sick leave at work so it is actually easier to deal with.

Cautiously optimistic about Dam-et on Day Seventeen of his hospitalization. His first course of chemo finished about a week ago and he still has no immune system to speak of (zero neutrophil count), but they took a second bone marrow biopsy today which was easier on him than the one on Day Two and we are hoping the sample will show good news.

It's a long game, much as we want a quick fix. He will not be able to go back to University in the fall, but perhaps next winter.

Having Savor Rhee here has been a blessing. Since both she and Dam-sel are cancer survivors, they are inspirations to keep Dam-et positive...not that he has any intimations of mortality. After all, he is only 19! She has cooked for Dam-sel and me so that we can all get back to the hospital earlier in the evenings, has taken a few nights at the hospital so Dam-sel and I can have a little down time, and has kept me sane (well, closer to that state than otherwise) the rest of the time.

If there was ever any doubt why she is here, it is gone now!
