Well said.

And damn people, Amaretto is not a shooter. It's a sipping liqueur to pair with coffee.

That actually sounds really good.

I've also never shoot Amaretto, I usually mix it for a delicious Amaretto Sour. That drink is partially responsible for my "alcoholism"!

Much like how the Gin War is responsible for me not drinking gin anymore.

Was the battleground of this war in your internals? That maybe spilled out to your externals?

Oh, a friend and I were playing "Don't be a b!+ch" one night with gin (essentially, you pour a couple shots, walk up to someone and say "don't be a b!+ch" and take the shots... unless you want to be the b!+ch and get whatever the person wants).

A couple bottles of gin later and into the early afternoon hours, we realized that we both lost and had somehow managed to stay alive at a terrible cost. A friend who had not participated described the scene as follows: "I figured, either there was a Velicoraptor killing a cow in the bathroom or Orlion was really hung over."

A couple of hours and a bucket of fried chicken later, I was able to walk out of that apartment... a scarred veteran of a senseless war...*shudders at the flashback*

What's the point of shooting amaretto? Then you can't taste it!

Now whisk(e)y -- I can see the point of shooting that stuff. 8O

No, amaretto is either sipped straight up, or added to coffee (with some whipped cream on top). Mmmm baby.

But for getting drunk? Beer or wine. Although wine is less filling. So, wine. There, that's sorted.

;)

But wine is gross and tastes like feet...unless you have a good sherry.

Well...thank you, I guess---I now know what feet apparently taste like, without actually having to try any.
Umm...out of curiosity, WHICH wine do feet taste most like?
What makes Sherry's feet so special? [and how can you tell a good one from a bad one? I mean, it used to be so easy...a good Sherry would be wearing a simple A-line skirt, knee-ish length and a bad Sherry would have colored her hair and be wearing leather...]

Anyway...sipped Amaretto straight is kinda like drinking liquid diabetes.
Coffee improves it.

Peter: No, will check it out. (I think that's the first youtube link I've ever posted. :D )

Ali: Wine all the way.

Orlion: You Philistine.

Vraith: Exactly...use it to cut the bitterness.

Look, you can't call me a Philistine if your wine can be bought at a gas station or comes in a box.

I had a nice Southern Rhone wine once. Anything from California is garbage.

I also spent $100 dollars on a bottle of champagne on a whim... damn good stuff!

And Vraith: it's so uncommon, if you find it, it some how tends to be the good stuff. Manzanilla is good, but if you're looking for something stronger you can go with an Amontillado or Oloroso!

Psst, me? A Philistine? If anything, I'm too much of a snob!

First time [I think...it's possible I had it before and have just forgotten] I had Amontillado was arguing with a guy I knew in Germany about Poe and the Alan Parsons Project interpretation of him. We thought it would be appropriate, so went and got some. I quite liked it.

The other two things...I don't think I've ever heard of them. Have to look into.

Even cheap wine is better [relatively] than, say, Black Label or Pabst Blue Ribbon beer.

I am, right this second, having gin-n-tonic in recognition of the fact that yesterday was literally over 90 degrees warmer than a month ago---today is a mere 70 degrees warmer.
