The King's Justice

Post by Romeo »

I just posted a sample chapter of The Augur's Gambit (the other novella in the book) on the main page of the official site (www.StephenRDonaldson.com). Let me know if there are any problems.

Enjoy! :-)

Excellent! A few SRD classic words, and a new one (for me) - catoptromancy!

Thanks for the link, Romeo! I think I'll hold off until the book comes out.

By the way, the publication date is October 13, 2015 right? I had to search for it on the news page.

I, too, will not peek, ... and go into the West, and remain ... unspoiled.

It's great to read SRD's gorgeous prose again. After reading those few paragraphs, I'm intrigued.

I enjoyed reading the snippet so much that I couldn't resist trying to calculate the size of Indemnie based on the information given by the Augur.
That a man on a good horse at a leisurely pace could travel in 2 fortnights the length of the island's coastline.
I was interested to see if Indemnie mirrored a real world island.

This was more of a challenge than I expected. Knowing next to nothing about horses I had to do some googling to make the calculations more realistic.
If anyone's interested, my guesstimate is that the island of Indemnie is about the size of Cyprus.

When you have it electronically ... does that reduce the years you take to actually READ the book?  ;)

:P

(It actually does help, I can read a lot longer late at night!)

I've actually read THREE books in the last year, thank you very much. (Cloud Atlas, 2312, Red Rising, and I'm starting the Martian now.)

I think the main problem is that The Last Chronicles, unfortunately, bored me to tears.
