Westerns

I watched Doomsday last night. Overall, it had a weak plot, a few nonsensical plot points, and the action wasn't very entertaining.

LOVE Dead Man. A few years ago, I went to a Halloween party dressed up as No Face from Spirited Away and ran into someone dressed as Johnny Depp's character from Dead Man. It was a party primarily for film students in Boulder, and after I congradulated him on his costume, he said I was the first one who recognized his costume. He was the second to recognize my costume.
A weird and fun party that took place in the Odd Fellows hall.

I just watched Good, Bad, Ugly all the way through. This time I saw the opening credits, which were just fantastic and it helped get through the beginning pieces into this amazing and fantastic film that is easily the best Western ever made.

And just think, it doesn't even show up on AFI's Top Ten Westerns list...

Shane, Unforgiven, The Searchers, and The Wild Bunch all deserve to get top ten mentions (in my opinion). I tend to prefer either the Spaghetti Western style, or the Clint Eastwood Western, so I'd definitely add to my own list films like Pale Rider, Once Upon a Time in the West, and A Fistful of Dollars (it's still no Yojimbo, though).
A lot of films I would pick as great westerns aren't classically western, however. So maybe I just need to admit that I don't really like the genre unless it plays against type?

I always found it strange that, for an organisation which supports plenty of Foreign film fests etc, that they don't include Foreign films in their awards. It's a little patronising. Not that I have a problem with an organisation that specifically focusses on US films.jacob Raver, sinTempter wrote:The Leone Trilogy isn't American...FI.
