I got married 19 years ago today. It didn't take, and I was released back into the wild, Happy Unniversary to me!

Happy unniversary, dAN.
We should have a competing thread for us divorced folks...

Not competing...
Perhaps not a complementary thread, but a parallel one.
Marriage can be, but certainly is not always, "a dweam wiffin a dweam." Singlehood, divorce...and a few other configurations are all valid outcomes. Each has happy and also bitter adherents.
Infinite diversity in infinite combinations...

I don't think of it in terms of having or not having validity. I didn't want the divorce; it went against my beliefs. I also was completely unhappy, and so was my wife, and she wanted the divorce, so I didn't fight it. My plan was to give myself a few years before I started dating again, and so far it's been 7 years. I have five kids from 8 to 18 years old, so it's not like I don't have anything to occupy my time. I could go the rest of my life without marrying, or meet someone tomorrow; one never knows what's around the corner.

Yeah, SD, "competing" wasn't the best choice of words.
dAN, I keep waiting for that golden moment when I'll be free of kid responsibilities and can have my life back.

April 15th will be 14 years since the divorce was final. That makes it 15 years since the separation. Time flies...
