Ha! It's really just part of my Peter Cushing theme.

The final entry in the chronology is up. I hope you've all found it an informative and enjoyable read. All that remains now is to post the details on the ship itself, and a few notes on services in Port Wander. We will be starting soon.

Don't be dismayed about the title 'The Time of Ending' (I'm not trying to force the plot on the players or deprive their choices of major impact)...it's a phrase used in 40k to refer the last part of the 41st millenium. As wars, alien and daemonic incursions gather apace, the Imeprium heads towards what may be it's last moments. However, as RT is set 180 years before the current setting for Warhammer 40,000 (the tabletop wargame), we're not quite at that stage yet. Anyway, since GW won't want to stop selling their biggest money-maker, they won't bring about the end either

Yeah, that's what we thought about White Wolf and the oWoD series. But.... no, it's gone now.

From I understand, GW froze it's timeline at 999 M.41 partly due to demand by other companies (computer game manufacturers etc). They didn't feel that the license had as much value if GW kept jumping things forward all the time. The early nineties had the setting at 745 M.41 (with the arrival of Hive Fleet Behemoth), and it's moved in the latest edition of 40k to the end of the millenium. From what I understand now, GW are making efforts to move the time line back, which probably explains why DH and RT are both set in the early 800s, M.41

GW is a tad bigger than white wolf though. Just a little bit :P and older for that matter. It would be like worrying about Barbie dolls no longer being produced.

TSR got bought by Wizards of the Coast. Wizards got bought by Hasbro. And then they released D&D 4.0.

White Wolf, doing very well, decided to end their whole line and replace it with something similar to the old one, but just different enough that many of their players just left. This hosed them up so bad, they later were bought by Eve (the online gaming company) who is slowly bringing them back. Rumors exist of a MMORPG based in the Vampie: The Requiem universe.

I'm just saying that there are decent companies out there who'll step away from the cash cow they have going, and risk it all on something else. I only seem to remember when they fail.

I prefer the 999 M.41 era, because of the one minute to midnight theme, as well as the Necrons coming slowly online.

For a game about epic battles which are deciding the fate of billions, I agree, 999 M.41 is a fantastic place to leave it hanging, with numerous alien threats, as well as the launching of Abaddon's 13th Black Crusade from the Eye of Terror (supposed to be the bringer of the End Times). For an RPG, it obviously doesn't work to set the game at 999 M.41. They'll never go over that date because they'd have to rename it Warhammer 41,000...which just sounds silly :)

Haha! I've seen that QI clip many times, but never with the song at the end. Awesome.

^Oh if only that were the case...

Cushing song stuck in head, Damn you Alan Davies.
Druids gather at the circle of stones,
To worship the ancient ones.

In the glow of a dying red sun,
Their rites of evil have only just begun...

I've been singing it to myself all morning. Lucky the anthro lab here is empty.

And all Smurfs must die. Bonus points to Andrea.

Can you give any further information on why you used the word "murder" here? To me, that's implying his death was intentional at someone else's hands. If there's some kind of intent going on, I assume that those of us who were on the ship at the time would be very accutely paying attention to whatever evidence there might be.

He was shot dead by a ganger in a public place on Port Wander. Since it wasn't accidental, there's no other way to describe it than murder. If you want to investigate things related to that, you'll have to wait until we start :P

Fair enough. That said, there has been no public investigation into his death so far?

Also, how long ago was that? I've been assuming months, but wasn't totally clear.

The death of someone so important has attracted the attention of the authorities, and the local Arbitrators on Port Wander have conducted their own investigation. The Amphael Dynasty has conducted no official investigation of their own, with many claiming the death of his murderer effectively closes the regrettable incident.

As for the time since the death - months is correct. Don't worry about the finer details, as they will be made clearer in my opening post for the game.

I will be away for one or two nights, and busy when I return. If everyone could please PM me their Acquisition attempts by then, that would be great. Most have, but I'd just like to remind all.

Then, I'd have to scroll up to find the GM's off-topic post:
I'd prefer another target, a player target.

Anyway, I'm just joking and pointing out that if someone comes here to find 'useful links' and has to sift through twenty posts of Star Wars quotes, the thread is no longer useful.
Okay... so, because your actual POINT is totally valid, I'll take the argument (for the sake of being OCD) to the OOC thread.

And because you made the oh-so-subtle Tarkin quote in context, I'll simply acknowledge your well-played move here and (mostly) stop.

But the fact that you responded with another Star Wars reference means that I won. Even while I admire how you fit the quote into the mix.

it takes some of the fun out of it when you make it look like a quote from a journal article. :P
