From what I gather, it's preferable to have a Watch account purposefully for this - with a related avatar and name, right?

Those who play enough of these games end up getting one just for the character. Some have played just one game with their initial account, but made another account for games when they played more than one game.

If you ask Menolly or Fist or Av nicely, they might tell you how to set up a character using the same email address as (Effaeldm). I've been told half a dozen times now but I can never remember it for longer than it takes to do it.

I think the mods in here have one of those Men In Black red light things.

Depends on what Eff's email address is. Is it gmail?

I'm almost tempted to go make a thread in GT Talk just for this topic, just so it's archived. Make it an announcement or something.

So, let's say for the sake of argument that my email address is the above mentioned blahblah@gmail.com.

And let's further say that my Avatar here on the watch points to blahblah@gmail.com, which is only reasonable.

And now I want to make a second account with its own avatar for my Inferno character. We'll name the character Blahblah The Demon, of course. But when it wants me to put in my email address, it says that blahblah@gmail.com is already taken.

So, what you do is you put some unique bit of blahblah after a plus, in the email address: blahblah+inferno@gmail.com.

Maybe later, I'll have blahblah+pantheon@gmail.com and blahblah+darkwood@gmail.com. The Watch won't complain, and Gmail will send all of them to your same mailbox.

Not all mail systems support this. I'm pretty sure Yahoo would reject blahblah+inferno@yahoo.com. I'm not sure about hotmail. But GMail, now... GMail is tha shiznitz, and it'll take all kinds of nicknames. So use GMail, and get your Gravin Threndor on, G!

(And if you want to keep using your Yahoo or Hotmail accounts, which is only natural, you can set your GMail account to auto-forward everything to you at Yahoo or Hotmail. All the bonus, none of discomfort.)

Thank you all very much for this, especially Goatkiller for the mail explanation.

As for the mail turn submissions - should they be in literature-like in-character form? Also from the third person perspective, or first?

And, as a new Demon Prince, I certainly recommend not to fight that temptation. That is, to make the announcement.

I've always assumed that these games are ours as much as the GM's, so I've written my turns in whatever way seems right to me at the time.

Saying that, GK666 has definitely written somewhere that we should give examples of what we mean to do, more explanation being better than less, but not to write for the sake of it. Over to you, GK....

(I think we need a moniker here, along the lines of 'allfather', but more appropriate to the game)

Since we're in Hell, we could just stick with Goatkiller.

I always write mine in 1st-person. "I use 1 SU to burn Iblis' favorite teddy bear to ashes."

I believe this has something to do with your discussion

Can you tell where which surface is? Most likely places like Heaven and Hell are as reminiscent of the places people may imagine as the above are of normal stripes and bottles.

I'm having ideas of:
1) There's one road that moves through Hell. You cross from one layer to the next, passing by all points along the way. Anyone can always get from where they are to the road (unless prevented), and can use the road to get anywhere else. And there's less reliance on adjacency... One may travel (or send one's armies) from one place, to the road, to another place... bypassing all the other places within that layer. That would avoid the problem of one player being stuck far away from the gate... but it would avoid the strategic benefit of one player making a point of controlling the part right by the gate. So... you know... I waffle on this.

2) I actually come up with 10 different maps, which are layered on top of each other. There are multiple points on each map that link to other points. This gives value to adjacency and strategy, but still allows for some cool 3-D movement stuff. It's also much more hugely complicated.

[As a kid, I used to play Risk with two boards. You could move from a country on one map to the same country on another map... assault your way around there, then drop down to the first map again, functionally being 'behind enemy lines'. I loved how that changed the gameplay... I didn't love how that made a single game take all weekend.]
And at the same time the pictures above are a wonderful map.

So, for those interested, there were a total of eight player submissions.

Outstanding!

Ah, but just wait until I get these turns back to people.

I'm expecting far fewer by turn 2. ;)

The idea of Fist trying to kill other players reminds me of that guy trying to kill people.

No particular reason.
