Too bad hardly any looks at this forum. What happened to make this the forum so many love to hate?

Oh; no.. that apparent robot-arm is The First's glaive.
I don't care how mechanized they are making fantasy book covers these days, I won't bow to the trends.

(Much to Frosty's disappointment I'm sure, I was thinking, "that Giant Woman" as I drew her - but as an excuse, I will say I was just trying to "get in the head" of a commercial artist who draws covers for fantasy books without necessarily having read said book.)

I, too, was pleased with myself about the mustache... yes, yes I was... you seem to be hitting on almost all the things I did intentionally with great pleasure in the planning of this.
No other punishment can do justice to such a lack of taste, dearth of skill, and deficiency of perspective.

Who am I, Brendan Sullivan?
I am not sure who that is. If only there was a poem to explain!

If I were to write a poem, it would belong in Bad Writing, not Bad Illustrating.

Brendan Sullivan was Oliver North's lawyer, famous for taking exception to senators and congressmen at Iran-Contra hearings trying to question North directly. Sullivan had been objecting to virtually every question the congressional panel put to North, and the representatives were growing tired of North hiding behind this. At one point, Sullivan told the chairman “I'm not a potted plant. I'm the lawyer. This is my job."

So when I ask "Who am I, Brendan Sullivan?", I mean "I am not a potted plant. Why is my input being ignored?"

I see. It was an Olof Palme situation to me.

Fair enough. Thank you for leading me to learn about another facinating political figure from the same era.

Was there anything I should have gleened about him that was not brought out in the Wikopedia entry?

I dont know. There are a lot of theories about who assasinated him and why. Some say it was the cia! I like him as a political figure.

Would be nice to see some SD drawings in here!

Did either Olof Palme or Brendan Sullivan ever vote?

I want to vote for Linna because of the mustache, but there is a lack of monkeys in her picture... I am stuck!

Olof Palme voted a consistent straight Social Democratic ticket. Brendan Sullivan...I got nothing on his politics.

If I was the type I would have created two alters and voted as Olaf Palme and Brendan Sullivan

Instead, in spite of the lack of Art in her drawing (and because of it ), I vote for Linna's mustachioed arguleh and croyel. The characters on the left (Linden et al) remind me of a nativity scene I drew when I was in primary school (don't worry Linna, it's not blasphemous  ). The mustaches clinched it though!

I'm theoretically up to voting, practically not yet capable of deciding on one, got to think.

So, for now I just praise the really, really bad art you all posted

Ananda's first try
Is oral sex with insects
And "Look ma, no hands!"

Both her collage and
The one by Frostheart strike me
As being busy

Ananda's second
Still depicts an insect beast
Notice the six limbs

Linna gets my vote
For showing croyel and a
Question-mark-filled sun

On each, I agree
But we pine for the monkey
Banana in mouth

The mustache is great
Twist and twirl its wickedness
Fine, I choose Linnas

Haikus never have struck me as my style
So let's have some rhymes in the meanwhile:

Hard to choose, indeed, oh bother!
Yet my vote goes to Linna's monster

That mustache together with a bowler hat
Would look fetching, no doubt of that!

An arguleh of foppish persuasion
Beneath the Sunbane-abomination

Ananda, I was really perplexed about this and it just seems that some people resented the fact that you could rack up so many posts with so little effort, it just didn't seem fair to them seeing how crucially important post counts are in the eternal scheme of the Universe. :P That is the only "reason" I have been able to figure out by looking at the very oldest, locked Mallory's threads. Do we really want those funsucking buzzkills in here anyway?? No, let them spew their vitriol all they want in the Tank. This is the Fun Subforum!!

I regret having lost track of this, much fun and very baaaaaaadd awesomeness are being had!! I especially like the Bed Drawer sig banner. The monkey bespeaks everything important to this endeavor.

I vote for Zorm's...

...so many interesting cold-weather characters... doesn't accurately portray stuff pertaining to the book... or wait, we just call that "artistic license," don't we?

Thanks for all the compliments on my reaching the pinnacle - or perhaps nadir of my own personal best - er, worst (so far) in this art form.

Hahah, NICE about them being reminiscent of a nativity scene you drew as a kid...

And don't worry... often children expressing blasphemous ideas doesn't make me as anxious as it would have a year or two ago.. after all, could I reasonably expect to find out what they're really thinking without encountering a few (or a lot of) blasphemous things along the way?

Hmmm, I swear... someone used the word "blasphemous" in my presence just the other day...

OH, RIGHT! I REMEMBER! It was my husband... when I mentioned what I wanted help scanning. I think the quote went something like this:
"Let's hope it's not anything TOOO blasphemous."
