You're one up on me, I've never read or even heard of any of them. :D

Get that first one. I read something else by Stapledon, Odd John, because it has telepathy. Then figured I’d try this. Turns out Loredoctor loves it, too.

But yeah, what are the odds we never heard of all those classics??

If few people recognize the author/title, is it really a classic?

Something Interesting from my To Read list - Taleb's Fooled by Randomness

Something that might be educational - Wheelan's Naked Economics

Lots of SF stories with a little depth - Orson Scott Card's Ender series
(skip the movie)

For us 1980's nerds - Ready Player One
(again, skip the movie)
Good dreams don't come cheap
You've got to pay for them

Just finished a book called The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch.

Absolutely top grade stuff in the manner of an almost Dickensian fantasy city. A disreputable charlatan as hero and a cast of villains to make the mouth water.

Great, great fun. A genuine page turner and I mean it.

:)

(Ps. "Zackly". Now there's a word I'd never have expected to see outside Cornwall. It's exactly (hem hem) how the Cornish people say the word 'exactly'. It even features on the back of our local buses that have this and other Cornish pronunciations on them ("Wosson" for whats on, "Dreckly" for directly etc). I like it! :D )

I don't feel comfortable telling anyone what they should be doing, however, with that caveat in place, you should be reading Involution Ocean, by Bruce Sterling.

It's quite short by today's standards, but don't let that fool you - not a single word is wasted. Thought provoking Sci-fi at its finest.
Stone and Sea are deep in life,
two unalterable symbols of the world;
permanence at rest, and permanence in motion;
participants in the Power that remains.
