I'd use chatbane for things. (I occasionally hit up deer or sky for conversations on Chatbane!)

In fact, I had an idea of a use for it last time we organized a get-together.
I was thinking we could put the Google Meet info in there.
Because only people who have KW accounts can access it. (well. without haxxoring.)

Not a bad idea putting a Meet link in the chatbane.

Anyway, the discord is up, and we have Rigel and Linna so far.

Invite links up there and in Announcements (and Games). I dunno how much hope we should hold out, had enough probs getting the office onto it, and they didn't have a choice.

I wonder what it was.
The thing that held me back for so long is not wanting yet ANOTHER account for yet another site. (for awhile my husband has been telling me "just use a password manager")

Yeah.. I was thinking Discord might be helpful for being connected to people who don't want to do video chat - a couple people mentioned that.

If nothing else... an extra outpost of the Watch.

Oh... I think I know of 3 other Watchers who already have Discord - I should mail them!

I don't like password managers.

Dunno who you mailed, but we have 5 members now. Might send an invite out by mass mail, see what happens...

I highly recommend being logged into discord before using that link. If you don't have a discord account, create one first.

If you use this link and you are not logged in, it seems like it will direct you to create an account, and there doesn't seem to be a way to use an existing account from that point. At least, that's how I found it.

To log into discord and/or create an account, just go directly to discord.com.

Thanks for the tip WF. I have fixed your access btw.

(Actually, I think that must have happened to me when I first joined, because when I tried to transition to a different machine I couldn't find a way to use that original account and had to create a new one. Good to know.)

I think it's time for a Fest FAQ page ... I would volunteer, but I am not really the one organizing this, so I would like their blessing.

No probs on my side, maybe liaise with Dlb etc. Guess we're waiting to find out SRD's availability before we make a firmer plan.

I recommend that you have an account AND BE LOGGED IN when you use the link.

The link is an invitation. If you try to use it, and don't have an account, or if you have an account and are not logged in, the web site gets quite confusing.

Right...breaking news. Romeo says SRD is in for a virtual e-fest.

Dates not mooted yet, but he's also asked for a dry run to ensure that he can join via video etc.

If we're going with Zoom, hopefully DLB will be able to co-ordinate that with Romeo and he, but have offered the choice of platforms, be it Zoom, Google or Discord. (Where this news broke first I might add. )

I let Romeo know it would all be better discussed here, so hopefully he will deign to grace us with his presence.
