That's a great way to acquire objects of desire, Emma - as presents! Nice to see you around. :)

I noticed the 1st season DVD set finally became available here, but it was going for $99 (CAN) at HMV. That seems rather steep to me. I like the new Doctor Who but not enough to drop that amount of money on it. I generally despise HMV, as its prices are always inflated compared to other local retail shops (not to mention HMV's selection sucks). I'm going to hunt around for a better deal.
Try www.whona.com out of Indianapolis. Their price is around $75 or so.

:::hanging head and whispering:::

Beorn's never seen any Dr. Who...
Yes there are. Priced around $24 US. Amazon, Best Buy has them or Suncoast in many malls. There is a new set coming out this month called "The Beginning". It is the first 3 eps back in 1963. It introduces the Daleks!

One of the best dvd's is "City of Death". Excellent!

Mods... if this is not acceptable...please delete.

www.youtube.com has downloaded the Christmas Invasion. Be sure to first view the Prelude as it ties in immediately after the Parting of the Ways.

Julian Glover absolutely shines in that story. A fantastic villain and great adventure.

It's great to be back my dear. I have been moving house, job, life and am now a new, shinier woman. 8O

Thanks all. Keep in mind I've only seen the first three so far.

Someone had posted a link earlier in the thread, where an objection was raised that a fan of the show was concerned it isn't appropriate for children. I disagree, but I can see his point. The production of this version of the show is so high tech, with very little camp compared to at least the second Doctor onward, that I could see some small children having nightmares from an episode or two.

Also, discounting the first episode, Rose, as that really is a reintroduction to The Doctor and an introduction to his current continuing companion, do all the short term female companions expire from fire? I'm thinking of the demise of both Jabe in episode two (The End of the World) and Gwyneth in episode three (The Unquiet Dead). I would be disappointed if I could predict someone's death whenever fire is involved...

OK, someone link me to plot synopses or online transcripts for episodes four and five, please. With all of the Final Four hoopla here in Gator Town, I totally missed last week's episode and Beorn and I are leaving for FIL's in Fort Lauderdale on Thursday for Passover. FIL doesn't have cable at all, so I doubt I'll find anyone willing to let me watch it at their place while I'm down there.

:::that reminds me, I need to PM Ms. Mary to see what her schedule is like the next week or so:::

You mean the episodes dealing with the Slitheen?

I don't know!!

The last episode I saw was the one with the undead.

So I saw the introduction, simply titled Rose, the one where the Earth was coming to an end, and the one with the undead. Which two would be next?

Yeah, it's the Slitheen two-parter. It's not the best of the season, but it has some excellent moments.
