Don't let the title put you off. It's not really about the mobile suits and there's surprisingly little combat; the war is fundamental to the series, but the whole thing is really about people. It's about bringing war to the personal level.

So far, Gundam 0080 is the one and only anime that has actually made me cry.

I'll keep an eye out for this. . . As far as anime moving me to tears. . .I have to admit I misted up at one point during Fullmetal Alchemist, and cried once during Fruits Basket. I'm a sensitive girl, but not a cryer (at least not in public).

A friend lent me an anime dvd called 'Ultimate Hentai Volume III' - it looks sort of fantasy/sci-fi. I'm new to Japanese anime, so I dont understand the title.

Watch it with your family. It's a family anthology. It's a good one for the kids, too. Especially if there is any sort of tentacle themes. Ya know... tentacles are for hugs.

Alright, this is ridiculous. Wendee Lee (possibly best known as Faye Valentine in the English dub of Cowboy Bebop) is in everything. Actually everything. EVER.

I can't even merrily play .hack//infection without bloody Wendee Lee popping up as the voice of a character. The woman is immanent. She's been in every anime and videogame ever made, anywhere in the known universe.

Heh. Actually, I normally think of Steven Blum, who played Spike, as the ever present voice actor. Among other things, when he played Shishio in Kenshin, I thought Shishio's subordinate with grip-knives (whose name I can't remember) was played by the same guy who played Jet, which I found pretty funny. Until I found out I was off the mark

I looked at wikipedia, though, and both have very long lists, so I wouldn't be surprised if I've heard Lee a lot as well.

EDIT-But I'm not a big fan of the .hack series. I did play the first 2, and disliked 'em.

I played the first, but I couldn't be doing with trudging through essentially the same game another three times just for the ending to the story.

For the record, Wendee Lee is BlackRose.

My friend lent me the first two because he had bought them together. However, he decided not to get the third or fourth, and I didn't like them enough to shell out $50 each for them. They might be cheaper now, but I've already deleted my files, and I don't think I'd want to spend the time anyway.

I liked the characters fine, especially Sanjuro and the healer girl (don't remember name). But all in all, it was a meh series.

Just one thing. When you're done, tell me what the hell the deal with Cubia (big monster which appears at end of first one and you fight in the second) is. I hated that thing because of the anti-physical attack wall it uses for about 1/2 of the first fight.

I really, really, really, really need to get Cowboy Bebop one of these days and watch it. Heh.-jay

Bebop is overrated. Don't get me wrong, it's very good, but not the towering paragon of anime it's so often made out to be.

Well, it doesn't have to be *great*. Very good is good enough for me, heh.

I just want to see the stupid thing because I must have seen and heard the intro theme play a billion times, and I've never actually watched a full episode of the show, heh.

Plus, I don't know of any other short series anime I need to see. So I obsess over Cowboy Bebop. Heh.-jay

Definitely see it, Jay. If anything it has some incredibly smart and tight episodes--and some lackluster ones. But the ones that stand out really stand out from beginning to end (won't spoil anything, but episode 5 was a doozie).

But yeah. No such thing as a "holy cow" perfect show. But Bebop ain't stinkin' bantha fodder, either. It's worth wasting some life on.

I'm very deprivated, apparently. I've only seen:
Vampire Hunter D
Project A-KO
and Tank Girl

but I am a fan of 8 Man and Speed Racer, if that counts!

Very deprivated! The original Vampire Hunter D is...meh. I haven't seen A-KO, but I've heard that it too is...meh.

I now revise this opinion. It's all about contrast.

I first started watching Wild Arms immediately after watching some really high-grade stuff, maybe Noir or something. As a result, it seemed dreadful (and actually the first two episodes are still a bit annoying).

I've now returned to it shortly after trying to watch the superficiality-fest that is King of Bandit Jing. The result this time is that Wild Arms seems like a lightweight but pleasant enough passage of a few hours.

And yes, it was my viewing of Wild Arms that made me comment on Wendee Lee's presence everywhere. Amusingly enough, in light of Holsety's post, Stephen Blum also has a minor role.

And again! I was rewatching Witch Hunter Robin, and I started thinking "Hmm, that character's voice is familiar..." Sure enough, it's Wendee again. Then, in one episode "That man's voice sounds strangely laconic" Yep, it's Stephen Blum. Raaaaaagh!

I would say that off the top of my head, Bebop is the best show you can jump into. That is, for the most part you don't need to watch start to finish.
