Yes! - That is what Christianity is supposed to be about, after all.

Feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless... Jesus made it abundantly clear that this is His priority.

How does stuff like 'what books you read' even become an issue?

I just don't get it...

Yes I think I will have a t-shirt printed that says W.W.D.D-What Would Dumbledore Do?.I bet that would get some looks.By the way,whats The Popes stand on violent video games,or gangsta rap?I bet I have much larger chance of being shot in the head today than being hexed or cursed-I am in no way pro censorship,but geeze it looks to me like depictions of real,live possible evil and violence would be way higher on the condemnation list than a fairy tale.

No, i wasn't saying that there were more evil things than Nazi's, I was merely saying that the Nazi's aren't the most evil. There are many things that equal the Nazi's in terms of sheer vileness.

This is my main point: Just because less people are hurt in other situations were people are degraded, it doesn't make it any more humane than what happened in the holocust. Just because a crime is smaller, doesn't make the evil that commits that crime any less malevolent.

Yes, the shocking thing about something like the holocaust is that a charismatic figure like Hitler is able to bring out the devil in so many people - he probably didn't murder a single jew with his own hands - he swayed thousands to his way of thinking.

But I'm probably more personally horrified by the notion of a person like the BTK killer, who wandered around preying on people's trust in their fellow man to fulfill his twisted fantasies. His crimes were smaller in scale, and so random in nature, that they chill me to the bone.

But the core of evil is there in each case.

All this nonsense started when I said the Nazi's were the most evil force the world has ever known. You can agree or disagree that was never the point at all and further discussion of that is a waste of time. My point was the Pope's connection.

A sensible man, indeed. After all, fantasy and horror movies are fiction; entertainment for those who enjoy it.

If people feel that someone is going to turn to evil due to reading a book or seeing a movie, can't they realize that there was something wrong with the individual in the first place?

the opening paragraph(or maybe the second one) of the article says that Ratzinger sent the letter to a german critic agreeing with her opposition, and that now the Popes veiws are being introduced to the English speaking populatioin of Europe who is sitll under the impression that the Vatican apporves of the Potter Books...

one questioin...

why should they care? well, i guess there ARE some who run there lives by what the Vatican says..but...seriously...who cares
