dennis...I hope all goes well for you, given the circumstances. Hopefully you will be spared the brunt of the storm.

Sorry to hear about your loss, Lorelei.

And good luck, Dennis. May the force be with you, and all that.

Wow, sad times around here. Hopefully things will pick up for everyone.-jay

Apparently nothing. If it's a mystery, there's nothing he can do. And if it's Crohn's...well, he didn't really tell me anything about it.

dennis, and anyone else in the gulf coast area....go! Just go!
Rita is now a Cat 5 hurricane, and will only get stronger as it continues to move. Top winds are sustained at 165mph.

I hope this thing fizzles for some reason before it makes landfall.

My thoughts are with you all. I pray for your safety.

Dennis--you can always send your wife and grandchildren to me if you become homeless. (You are also welcome)

I have room, and it would be great fun to get to know you all in person!

Lorelei, sorry.
My Mother passed away almost ten years ago, just before my life reached a point where she would have been the most proud of me and I really got my act together.
It sucks.
My siblings and I really didn't talk about it too much for months after she passed away.
But when we did, finally, we shared stories and laughed.
I don't think it ever gets "better" but it does get less sad.
Take care.

Me, too. I was going to post my good news, but after reading the past couple of pages, my stuff sort of pales in comparison. Sgt. & Mrs. Null, good luck to you in dodging Rita. Lorelei and Cail, I'm sorry for your losses.

Well, what the heck. I'm feeling a bit smug today. My oldest kid made it into the choir at college; yesterday she found out that the choir is going to Ireland in January. This is the kid who, last year at this time, was sure that she wouldn't be admitted to *any* college -- I had to bribe her to take the SAT! And last night, my youngest kid had the winning serve in her team's volleyball game; this is the kid who was so worried that she would be cut during tryouts that she almost quit. So today I'm doing the proud-mom dance (and trying to figure out how to smuggle myself into Elder Daughter's suitcase)!

Ireland! What an opportunity. I'm jealous. :P

Tell both your kids "Congratulations" for me.

I've had a bad seizure today. But I'm just posting here to say that I am going to take a long break from the Watch again; I feel I have come under attack by several people here at the watch, and I do not appreciate it. Especially when some of them I considered as friends. I don't deal with stress well anymore, and the watch is becoming too stressful for me.
Farewell for now.
