Next question: When Terisa and Geraden are halted by Prince Kragen's men outside of the besieged Orison, what does Geraden tell Kragen's men that he and Terisa are?

I wonder if anyone got the message that there was a new question.

I'm sure you would feel like Queen for a Day.

:) Guess away, Skyweir! There are no penalties for trying, here! However, that is not the answer. Neither Terisa nor Geraden tell Kragen's soldiers that they are Imagers.

Seems like quite the appropriate comparison, Sanity! :queen:

Nobody wants to take a crack at guessing the answer? (Skyweir, you are certainly welcome to try again!) IrrationalSanity and I have given some good hints, here! :)

No, but you are very close to the correct, answer, Sam! :)

Ok I know this is not the right answer because for the life of me I don't remember the story but fun to guess it just because

Did they say they were prince and princess from Domme? [Kragen would know they were not but maybe his men would not?]

Hmmm I know that is wrong but oh well!!

FYI - You were closer the first time. Pay close attention to the banter between Cord Hurn and I relating to the question.

Very strong hints, indeed. 8)

I guess I feel guilty for guessing any longer since I am going off hints and for the life of me I cannot remember this sequence of events.

However, since no one else is guessing I will make another attempt.

Did they say that they were messengers form Queen Madin?

I guess why this bothers me is for the life of me I cannot remember this part of the story so I cannot wrap my brain around why Prince Kragen's men would care if the Queen had a message [she was not in charge of anything per se]. So if I were in their shoes I would just drag Geraden and Terisa to some tent and bind them until they can be questioned or tell them they have 3 seconds to run before they are killed.

Anyways....that is my guess 8O

Yes, indeed, Sam, that is the answer! Well done!

In [i]A Man Rides Through[/i] Chapter 38 was wrote:Late that afternoon, they [Terisa and Geraden] rode as if they were fearless straight up to the first Alend patrol they met and demanded to be taken to the lady Elega.

Swords and distrust surrounded them promptly. Terisa's mount showed a distressing inclination to shy in all directions; she had to fight to keep the beast under control. She was conscious that the weather had turned chilly since the previous day's rain. Alends? She wondered. Not Cadwals? Does that mean Orison is still standing? But she had no intention of asking these questions aloud. After all, these soldiers were dressed and armored just like the men who had taken Queen Madin.

The leader of the patrol snapped, "What makes pigslop like you two think you've got a reason to see the Prince's lady?"

Geraden's mouth smiled; but his eyes were hard. "We're servants," he answered with a hint of danger in his voice. "Our parents have served her family since berfore we were born. We grew up with her.

"We've come from Romish. The Queen sent us to see her."

The Alend leader snarled a curse. "The Queen? Madin? That shithole Joyse's wife?"

The effort of controlling her horse disguised Terisa's face as effectively as a mask. Geraden's expression was positively serene: only his eyes threatened to betray him. "So you've heard of her," he said blandly. "Good. Then you'll understand that the lady Elega won't take it kindly if you prevent us from delivering our messages."

"Queen Madin?" the Alend repeated in a voice congested with hostility. "You've got messages from Queen Madin?"

Geraden's mouth smiled again. "My, you are quick." Then, softly, he said, "Take us to see the lady Elega."

A little thrill touched Terisa's heart as she heard the authority in his tone.

The leader of the patrol hesitated; he was taken aback--a fact which seemed to surprise him. To compensate, he growled an obscenity. Then he said, "I think the Prince is going to want to hear your messages."

"As long as we get to talk to her," replied Geraden. "I don't care who else hears us. Take us to see them both.

"Just do it."

To his own obvious astonishment, the Alend leader turned and organized his men to escort Geraden and Terisa toward the encampment. A pair of the Alends galloped ahead; the rest formed a knot around the travelers.

As usual, IrrationalSanity cleverly disguised part of answer to my trivia question within his comment.

It's your question, Sam! Again, well done!!

Thanks! Also thanks for that quote snapshot made more sense now

I am not sure how easy this question is since you all seem well versed in Mordant books. So I will try to "complicate" it by asking it multi-pronged Anyways here we go:

1 Once in Mordant - who was the first person that Terisa played hopboard with?
A) What was the result of that hopboard match?
B) How did Terisa and the other player get to the end result of that match? ---this may be too vague but can't think of how to ask without giving away an answer.
C) BONUS (meaning you don't have to answer this to answer correctly but we will roundly congratulate you if you answer this) - who played checkers with Terisa before she arrived in Mordant?

:D I was gonna say Havelock, (thought they'd played in the after the secret corridor thing with Gart although on reflection, I think Havelock was just sitting at a board or something), but part B made me realise it had to be wrong. :D

1) Kragen

A) Draw

B) By mirroring each other's moves.

C) One of her fathers valets (no name given that I recall) who was subsequently fired.

Not to worry, Sam. All questions have differing levels of difficulty.

One tip: Pivotal moments tend to be remembered, at least in the broad strokes, by more folks, so you need to pitch questions about them around fairly subtle details if you want to increase the level.

Haha, yeah, I guess that was a pivotal moment. :D
