The album Weapons, by Weapons. They're a Welsh hip hop / rock band with what the rock press like to call "pop sensibilities" - i.e. they can write a catchy tune. They're currently touring with Hed(pe) but Weapons are by far the better band.

I'm putting together an 80s compilation (for lack of anything better to do, and because there aren't many decent ones), so I've been listening to that all day.

This isn't anywhere close to complete, and I haven't even started on a final track-order yet (mostly it's alphabetical), but it looks alright so far:

Nik Kershaw - The Riddle
Boy Meets Girl - Waiting For A Star To Fall
Prince - Raspberry Beret
Mel & Kim - Respectable
Bangles - Manic Monday
Mr Mister - Kyrie
OMD - Forever Live & Die
Black - Everything's Coming Up Roses
Choirboys - Run To Paradise
Lionel Ritchie - All Night Long
Dire Straits - So Far Away
Fleetwood Mac - Everywhere
Joey Scarbury - Believe It Or Not (theme from The Greatest American Hero)
John Cougar Mellencamp - Cherry Bomb
Jefferson Starship - Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now
Kim Wilde - You Keep Me Hanging On
M - Pop Muzik
Mental As Anything - Live It Up
Midge Ure - If I Was
Mike Oldfield & Maggie Reilly - Moonlight Shadow
Moody Blues - Wildest Dreams
Murray Head - One Night In Bangkok
Paul Simon - The Boy In The Bubble
Pet Shop Boys - What Have I Done To Deserve This?
Peter Gabriel - Big Time
Swing Out Sister - Breakout
Tears For Fears - Head Over Heels
A-Ha - Take On Me
Jan Hammer - Miami Vice Theme
Icehouse - Crazy
Yazoo - Only You
World Party - Ship Of Fools
Womack & Womack - Teardrops
The Waterboys - The Whole Of The Moon
The Smiths - Bigmouth Strikes Again
The Cure - In Between Days
Concrete Blonde - Bloodletting (The Vampire Song)
Real Life - Send Me An Angel
Simple Minds - Don't You (Forget About Me)
Psychadelic Furs - Pretty In Pink
Genesis - Land Of Confusion

It's coming along...

I'm listening to my Itunes library, and I am currently playing my J-pop playlist (songs from anime and videogames). Right now it's Simple & Clean by Utada Hikaru (from Kingdom Hearts). Up next is Ready Steady Go by L'Arc en Ciel (one of the opening songs for Fullmetal Alchemist).

Right now? Little Boxes, by Malvina Reynolds. It's the theme tune for Weeds.

Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes made of ticky tacky
Little boxes on the hillside,
Little boxes all the same,
There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they're all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same.

And the people in the houses
All went to the university
Where they were put in boxes
And they came out all the same
And there's doctors and lawyers
And business executives
And they're all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same.

And they all play on the golf course
And drink their martinis dry
And they all have pretty children
And the children go to school,
And the children go to summer camp
And then to the university
Where they are put in boxes
And they come out all the same.

And the boys go into business
And marry and raise a family
In boxes made of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same,
There's a green one and a pink one
And a blue one and a yellow one
And they're all made out of ticky tacky
And they all look just the same.

Come On Eileen-Dexy's Midnight Runners
No One Ever is to Blame-Howard Jones
and Der Kommisar-Falco

I have absolutely no ideal what they're talking about on Eileen--but it's a damm catchy song! :D

Fun with Shuffle: A series of heavy, serious songs are followed immediately by Green Day's King for a Day:
King for a day,
Princess by dawn.
King for a day,
in a leather thong.

J Mascis and the Fog (Mike Watt on bass0
TV Eye (Stooges cover, Watt sings)

when I saw the group a few years back the only two singing this tune were me and Watt, I was right front of him, and he smiled at me, I was a bit drunk and loud. :))

Miles Davis - Freddie Freeloader.

Being connected to the university network and using iTunes' shared libraries feature is brilliant. There's so many artists and bands that I keep hearing about but just can't be bothered to listen to, but now I can find tons of people with them on their computers.
