Apparently, in one of the new WotLK zones getting around is inconvenient without a flying mount - so they've added in a Spectral Gryphon mount you use when you corpse-run. Nice.
And it seems they're preventing the use of flying mounts in Dalaran - to make it seem more "city-like".

Weekly build up on the beta realms.
Details of new stuff here.
This one was big, because they did a total reworking of buff/debuff stacking. A lot of buffs were tweaked so that different classes provided exactly the same effect (eg, Blessing of Might gives same attack power now as Commanding Shout), and they made things giving the same effect non-stacking. This is apparently so that there's less stacking of raid groups specifically to get as many buffs/debuffs as possible.
Rogues have been given a Misdirect-like skill, which gives a target the threat of the next 6 attacks and increases the target's damage by 15% for the duration.
And they changed Blessing of Sanctuary, making it something much more useful--3% damage reduction and rage/runic power/mana on dodge/block/parry.

Virus alert.
I got kicked off in the middle of a session and had over 6K latency when I signed back on. Rebooting didn't help, so I ran my security scan.
Turn up this:
www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusencyclo/d ... eneric.ADV - generic description of a low threat, but it was in my WoW and D2 files. Though my virus program thinks it was successfully quarantined, I still have almost 7K latency.
Don't know where it can from since about all I do on the web is play WoW and visit the Watch.
[edit] I *think* I have it working again, but I don't know if it's safe to use. Virus scan can't find anything else, but I am not convinced that it got everything.

I deleted the infected files and reinstalled, but it's still unplayable. I don't know what else to try. Any advice?

Uninstall and reinstall. Completely clean it out and start again. That should get rid of it.

This sucks BIG TIME!!
How about uninstalling completely. Run full virus scan. Run full spyware removal. full reinstall WoW / BC w/ no add-ins. Hopefully joy.

That's what I'm doing now, thanks.
Very annoyed that it happened in the first place. I have not downloaded anything recently or visited any suspicious sites. I do not use add-ons. My anti-virus is up-to-date, and I had run a full scan two days before it happened. My firewall is on the second-highest setting.

I'd rather hunt down the malicious creep that created the virus in the first place.

Ah-ha! Here's your problem then!

Argh.
Okay, turned it up to max. Though the setting I was on did say:
"If you have concerns about your computer's security, medium security delivers peace of mind."
Bite me, Trend Micro.

Nah, I was just kidding really. You should be fine whatever level you have the security on.

Should be, but since I wasn't, I'm going to leave it on max.

Only thing about Max is that you might have to allow some things for WoW since it uses the Internet!

Think I've got it set for that. At least, it's downloading the patches.
