Sooo...Batty's in the hospital. She's been complaining of dizzy spells for awhile now. Nearly passed out at work again yesterday. One of Magickmaker's roommates was pressed into service to drive her to the ER. Preliminary diagnosis: gastritis brought on by taking way too many over-the-counter pain meds. They're doing an endoscopy on her today to confirm the diagnosis.

I'm supposed to go down there this weekend anyhow. Now I'm debating whether to take more time off work and go down sooner.

Sorry to hear that too, Ali. Forgive my ignorance, but Batty would be one of your daughters?

Yup. My two daughters, Batsutousai (Batty for short ) and Magickmaker, are both Watchers, altho neither comes around any more. They attended both the DC fest several years back, and the last E-fest in Albuquerque, so several folks here have met them.

Looks like the endoscopy will be tomorrow. Then they'll let her out. At least that's the plan right now. I've decided to drive down, probably tonight after work.

Thanks, lorin. :)

Decided there's no point in my getting there after midnight tonight. So I'll get a good night's sleep tonight and hit the road bright and early <groaaaaaan...> tomorrow.

Give her a hug for me, Ali.

I had an ok day. Seth was in a playful mood which is rare but awesome. He kept trying to sneak up on me and scare me as I worked on my projects. He did make me jump a little once. I got a lot accomplished and we all had some fun.

Ali, hope Batty gets diagnosed asap and she gets better soon. |G

I've been having a hilarious few days. For those who don't do facebook and aren't my "friend": Last Sunday I got a call from my dad saying that his neighbour had come around saying that there was a Robyn Butler mentioned in the Herald Sun (our second largest newspaper in the state of Victoria). He wanted to know whether it was me.

Well....it was me. Someone over Easter was camping on the Murray River and found a bottle floating down the river. They retrieved it and found it had a note in it written by me in 1986 when I was 12!!!! Well, I'll be hornswaddled! So started the "who is Robyn Butler and where is she now" saga.

So, I contacted the paper and said "It is me!" and also asked could I have details of the person who found the bottle so I could try and get it back. I've been in contact with the woman whose grandson got the bottle and she agreed to send it back. Yay! My letter to the paper ended up printed yesterday. And when I got home there was a message on my answering machine from our regions newspaper the Star asking was I the Robyn Butler mentioned in the paper and would I like to do an interview.

On top of that, I then got a phone call this morning from the Guardian newspaper in Swan Hill (where I lived as a teen, where my parents still live, and where I threw the bottle in the river) asking could they do an article...so I did a phone interview.

And the Herald Sun would like a picture of me with the bottle once I get it back...

...and...and... It's hysterical. I'm being compliant for the fun factor, and because SoS things it's awesome but...well...I'd hate to be really famous. All these phone calls and saying the same thing over and again.

Anyway, so I'm having my 5 minutes of fame! I rock!

Not to put too fine a point on it, but what Andy Warhol said in 1969 was "In the future everyone will be famous for 15 minutes"...so if you have had five minutes of fame, you are only one-third done.

Seareach...Superstar!

What, is this yet another phrase that I've incorrectly quoted???

OH FECK IT! I just looked it up. "Hornswoggled". Is that what it really is???? Really???? My world will never be the same!!!

But, hey, I'm learning: I no longer say "for all intensive purposes"

That's funny. I've been saying the same for years. I'd say within this decade, I finally realized what the actual phrase is.
