This answer is very very close. But I am looking for a little bit more from the combination of 2 and 3 - that is my hint for now. I am not saying 2 and 3 are wrong...just looking for a little bit more...... I will provide another hint if you are scratching your head what you are missing.... [just smallish detail I consider important]

Good job on making it a challenge for me, Sam! I'm not easy to stump when it comes to Mordant's Need. I'll give your trivia question some more thought.

1) Lebbick was a farmer who had been married for ten days when a garrison commander of the Alend army took him and his wife prisoner, and Lebbick was forced to watch his wife be raped by Alends
2) He was freed by King Joyse and was allowed to take his revenge upon the Alend garrison commander
3) When Joyse saw the enthusiasm Lebbick had for punishing the commander, he put him to work as a soldier, and Lebbick gained promotions in that line of work because he was good at it.

Just in case anyone missed the part I considered "missing" I was hoping to see something along the lines of enthusiasm or as the actual book quotes - zeal. To me that was a crucial missing detail. Lebbick could have just stabbed him in the back and went on his way but what caught the kings attention:
"The Castellan's voice sank as he spoke. "When he observed the zeal with which I took revenge upon the commander, he gave me work which put that zeal to good use."

Thank you, Sam! Certainly, "zeal" is a great word to describe the way Lebbick is protective of his King and country. Lebbick is certainly one of the most memorable SRD characters, and his zeal certainly has something to do with that.
My question:
When Queen Madin is told by Terisa and Geraden that her husband Joyse actually knows what he's doing and is feigning weakness, she determines to leave Vale House to rejoin him at Orison. How many days does she say she will make that journey in?

Anyway, sticking with the Vale House scene. What shifted about Terisa's impression of the King's daughters once she met the Queen and Torrent?

Ooh, close. But not quite. I'll say the end result is correct, but the original impression/assumption not so much.

You have it!
Neither Terisa nor Geraden sat. He may have stayed upright out of courtesy, but her thoughts were elsewhere. At last, she could see Queen Madin clearly, and what she saw kept her on her feet.
Until that moment, she hadn't realized how much she was expecting the Queen to resemble Elega. From Terisa's point of view, Myste favored her father. Myste's laugh was so much like King Joyse's smile that the resemblance seemed more important than any differences. Simply on that basis, Terisa had assumed that Queen Madin would prove to be the parent Elega favored.
It was clear now, however, in the light of the fire and the bright chandelier and the surrounding lamps, that Terisa's assumptions were mistaken. One good look at the Queen made it plain that both Elega and Myste in fact resembled their father.

Your taking the extra time and trouble to include the relevant Mordant's Need quote is noted and appreciated, IrrationalSanity! I love Donaldson's writing, and tend to think posts are much improved with samples of his work included.

You're quite welcome. I agree that his writing brings in so much detail, yet none of it is wasted. Even this revelation is foreshadowed early on where it is observed that Elega and Myste looked like "indoor and outdoor versions of each other" (or words to that effect).
