Regarding Jove's island and Melirelle's offer - perhaps I could help in maintaining the equilibrium if such an island is raised?

In fact, I feel I would have to insist on being involved - after all, it is 'my' continent of Thellarr which is on shaky foundations at the moment. I really do not want any unexpected currents or tsunamis undermining Thellarr further!

Regarding Veria and her sidekicks, I repeat: If it is certain that their 'talents' can be controlled, I vote that they should be harnessed for the good of the Pantheon.

Thank you brother Undine
Jove wrote:Maeror, you have valid points. It is a concern to be discussed. However, after some small discussion with Melirelle, I pointed out that it would be unecessary for her to expend power when she did not need to and there are plenty of islands that I'm sure I could use.

However, I do openly thank Melirelle for her generosity in offering to help.

So, fellow dieties, what say you? The small island southwest of Necropolis? Does anyone have any objection? I do not want to step on any toes if that island is spoken for.
I have no problem about it ;)

Lord Adomorn wrote:

what about the other gods?
I feel I should clarify more.

It is not so much that I vote yay or nay. it is more along the lines that I feel I have no honorable right to tell you to kill or spare you followers, for it would hipocritical of me, when I spared my own followers who caused a like damage.

I abstain, however if it should come to a Pantheon wide-vote, then I would vote for life, but for the reason as stated above.

For now I abstain, and feel that the rest of the Pantheon should as well.

Did that make sense? ;)
I understand, my brother.

Hail my fellow deities. I have something that I would share with you all.

As you may know, rumours have surfaced concerning a great treasure that was brought to Sanctuary by my people. This treasure is the Woven Sphere, a representation of the Weave large enough for a man to stand erect within, wrought in amethyst by a master artisan named Endagur.

The Woven Sphere and has been transported to Sanctuary where it will be invested in a temple set set aside by our brother Adomorn. Accompanying it are Falliluir, titled the Voice of the Weave, and some few members of the Order of the Amethyst Heart who will care for both Sphere and Voice.

When Falliluir, as Voice of the Weave, stands within the Woven Sphere, he will be empowered to speak with the words of Fate itself. Thus may any man, woman or child seek guidance in Sanctuary, regardless of whom they worship if indeed they worship at all.

8O Norn, that sounds rather remarkable! :D
Astavyastataa Kadna wrote:Bah!! What business is it of yours godling!! I am CHAOS and DESTRUCTION ... I go where I choose!!
The expected response. However, I get enough trouble from adventurers and natural disasters, and don't need people who actually want to cause Chaos and Destruction so close to Shakari. I would very much appreciate you moving off the continent. If it helps, I will give you a DRP to help your people move. (And I might be able to get the Goddess of Travel to bless the journey ;)) I have ships. Perhaps Undine would bless the seas for us?

What say you?

Hmmmm ... a bargin for DRP ... and safe passage ... I will think on it ... However, a CURSE on travel and ROUGH seas would reverse the fortunes of my people.

I wonder how TRUSTWORTHY you are? Perhaps AFTER the Turn! When I have FAR more followers to transport!! If it will assuage your FEAR, godling ... I will LAUNCH no major offensive on your holdings at least until the next Turn. Perhaps the results of this one ... and more grovelling on your part will convice me to move.

After all, CHAOS and DESTRUCTION knows no boundaries.

Yes, I will think on it, indeed. *nods*

ImageCousin Astavyastataa, may my weyrlings and their aging weyrling master be of assistance?

All others of my Dragons are currently involved in their mating flights. But the journey to Landir would be very instructive to the weyrlings. And I will do my best to influence the skies for safe passage.

My dragons are straight flyers only, they have no mystical way of instantly appearing somewhere, so said journey will take several days back and forth. But, I believe they know Immeril better than anyone else, except perhaps the AllFather, and if it is your desire to join me on this continent, I would like to be involved in locating a place for you and your followers to settle, if I may.

What say you?

Indeed, Asta, a CURSE on travel would indeed reverse the fortunes of your people.

Funny that you should think that a 7-drp god would fear you. It is laughable! Bhakti has little to fear from such as you, peon, and it is you who should be groveling - groveling to become his vassal. I cannot help but admire your bravado and your youthful zeal, Asta, but it is bordering on STUPIDITY. I had no idead that stupidity was synonomous with chaos and destruction.

Undine, of course you are correct. You should be involved in this. However, since there are so many other islands that I could use without Melirelle having to expend extra power, I think we are all agreed that I will just use an already existing island.

Since I have heard no objections to taking the small island by Necropolis, then I will lay claim to it. Because of its proximity, I would like to settle Necropolis as well if it is not an inconvenience to anyone. It would make a good port for trading and a perfect stop on the way to the new lands in the west.

AK,

Please accept my offer. If you do, I hereby take the oath of the All-Fatherer that it is nothing more or less than I have stated. No tricks.

However, this is the only offer you will get. I will not "sweeten the deal." I will not make the same offer when you are larger. I am being as nice about this as you could hope. You lose nothing, and at my expense, you can be in a location that does not risk you being at odds with anyone, at least for a long time. The new lands are nearly entirely free.

Servants, indeed *scoffs*. More like horse dung to be scraped off of the boot of my traders.

The shadows hang thick between columns, in the arch of vaulted ceiling, the very air thickened as if striving to blot all light. Silence reigns--were it not for the freshness of the air it might feel as though this temple were a crypt--or a lair. Piercing through the darkness of the hall is a solitary spear of light, straight and clear, that shines upon the graven image of a god.
So it has been--through millenia passed - throughout living memory.
Well. Throughout one living memory, at least. And in all that time--
"--You have been missed."
A laugh, and his visitor turns to face him in the shadows. "You hide yourself better than I, it seems."
Or shifts himself, scaled head emerging into the shaft of light. "So long have I spent in study of your form, I would know you whatever shape you took." He glances sidelong, and adds a playful twist to his tone. "But then, you already knew that, didn't you?"
A second laugh. "Perhaps we thought that we had changed too much," the god replies, pulling back the hood of her robe. Then the mirth in her visage fades, and is replaced by a deep sadness. "Perhaps we thought that you would not recognise us."
Their game brought to an end, Or replies sincerely--"Never. Though the surface ever changes, the substance is ever the same."
The quote brings a smile back to her lips. "You've been listening to the missionaries."
"These new gods are not without their wisdom." The dragon turns his head to look at the great statue that stands above the altar. Maeror, Lord of Tragedy, stands weeping in the light. "This old form does not do you justice, Lady."
Maeror moves to stand beside him. For a moment she stands, faced with her own image in stone, in silent acknowledgment of the lost past. Then, a sigh. "We have little choice in the forms that we take. You would be surprised how much we depend on those who follow us.
"But you are right. This Lord's time is past."
A wave of her hand, and the shadows envelope the figure, thickening, blackening, until nothing can be seen of the ancient statue. The shadows dispel slowly, and within appears the image transformed: A woman stands, face raised toward the light, mirror of the figure that stands below it. One hand reaches upward, into the heavens--
And with its back to the female figure, facing the shadows, head bowed, stands a second, robed form. He holds his hands spread low as if in supplication--
And held close by her other arm is--
He takes a breath in awe.
"Why have you come here, Maeror?"

*To be continued, as soon as I can work out why Maeror has come here*

Meanwhile...

The Lord-General stands staring at the place where the Yekith had disappeared into the earth. The harsh wind streams his hair out behind him; his cloak snaps loudly, the only sound over his harsh breathing. Beyond the point at which he stands, there is nothing: barren earth extending toward the hills, flat and empty, lifeless.
The city of Hope is gone.
His stillness breaks into sudden motion. The great sword Hope is raised above his head, and with a great roar he slams it downward, driving its point into the earth. Cracks spread outward from its impact. The men that stand behind him stagger from the force of it. Admar stands, panting heavily, white-knuckle grip still wrapped around the weapon's hilt.
They had come here to protect.
To protect.
And this is what they find: a message written clear in the bare earth, and another, delivered in the words of the Yekith. "Klasthrishh." The word growls out from his lips, low and guttural, his voice filled with fury. "I will remember that name."
Then it seems a shudder wracks his form, and he sags, head bowed low, his hands relaxing their hold on the sword. When he straightens, the anger seems to have left him. Without turning, he addresses his men.
"Pride." His voice is calm, now, and carries clear to those behind him. "It was pride that brought us to this land. It was pride to think it would be so easy. Pride, to think that we would act unopposed." Grasping Hope once more, he lifts the sword from the ground and holds it before him. "It is never that easy." He slides the sword carefully back into its sheath, and turns to face the other soldiers. "You heard the words of Klasthrishh. You heard the warning of Melirelle." His eyes move from face to face among them, gauging their thoughts, their reactions. "You have heard her words--and you now hear mine." And with those words he lets his rage show--a serpent, tightly coiled, held ready to spring forth and strike at his command. "It is never that easy."

Jove has many marvelous talents. Some, given the chance, can save the world. Others are, perhaps, more mundane. (And some are... *shivers with anticipation of the eons of nights to come*) Alas, cleaning is not among her strong points. Dishes piled in the sink; bras hanging on doorknobs; and I swear she can't figure out how to turn on a vacuum cleaner!

Hey, I wonder if she's just playing dumb...

I am leaning toward your offer I need to think some more ... but first ... some stipulations!

1) you will ATTACK, with MAX DRP, ANY god or goddess or beings or force of NATURE that attacks my followers as you transport them ... or immediate before they embark or immediately after they arrive on the new continent. Not that I am suspicious ... but I want no other to interfere.

2) They are transported to a place of SAFETY on the new continent

3) Any future followers ... who hear the call of CHAOS and DESTRUCTION may have free passage (but should not require DRP) and a travel blessing from the WENCH! ;)

4) the number of followers transported will be those that are present at the COMPLETION of this Turns results.

Do you agree cousin godling?

Posted: Sat Apr 28, 2007 1:34 am
by Bhakti
No, I do not agree.

1) I am not aware of anyone who is intending to attack your followers, but I certainly cannot guarantee such is not the case. And if they are, they are not likely to care whether or not your followers are in Landir, in the new lands, or anywhere between. In addition, as you may learn, our followers often act against our wishes; even against our orders.

If you want to protect your followers wherever they are, you will have to do it yourself. I will not go to war for the likes of you, whether any attack against you was intended by any deity or not.

2-4, however, are fine.

2) Of course. If I wanted to harm your followers, I would simply harm them. No point in going through the trouble of transporting them to an unsafe location. In any event, if you wish to take O-gon-cho up on her offer, I can give the DRP to her, so she can use it to strengthen her dragons for the flights. In which case, your followers would be set down wherever you and she decided.

3) At the moment, I am not able to come up with a reason why I would not want any followers of yours out of Landir. I will always be glad to try to facilitate their departure. And, while I will not be your personal transport service, it is always possible that I'll have a ship that can be used to take your people away.

4) While I don't disagree with this (see #3), it is not possible to guarantee. But, if I give the DRP to O-gon-cho, her dragons will take however many they can take.
