He joined us at WFC last fall.

In fact, I dunno why the guy wants to come to E-fest. He's already met SRD and had his copy of AATE signed. Just kidding, Orlion!
I'm hoping to take out the THOOLAH Commander
Hmmmm, is that me or HLT?

There was a THOOLAH cheering section at the last Elohimfest.

Rest assured that this time there will be OPAL essence exhibited by those who trust SRD and are simply content to wait and see what he has planned for The Chosen.

Well, you'll just have to stand on that 'X' beneath the hanging piano to find out ;)

We can set up a thread for donations to the Seareach and Waddley cause and people can either post what they can donate there or pm me privately and after a week we will know if we can even come close to the amount needed and go from there, if we can raise the ducats, can you actually make the trip Sea? I'm being totally serious here. It may be that we can do this thing...

Thanx everyone. :)

To put things in perspective: I spoke to Mr Seareach (asked him what he though about me going, after explaining what you guys were offering). He said that was fine, although we're broke at the moment...so he wants me to tell him how much I'd need (for accommodation, food etc) before he says a definite yes. If I can do it cheap while I'm over there, then it's doable. In all reality, I would only be coming for, say, a week. I couldn't justify anything more (monetarily) and, also, Mr Seareach will work from home and look after SoS and he won't be able to do that for more than a week.

I think you asked, Jenn, how soon this would need to happen (ie: taking into considerations visas etc)
a) the flights I found are cheap and so I'm not sure how long they'll be around for (so we might get the money together only to then find out the flights have skyrocketed in price...but, well...we'll deal with that if we have to)
b) I know that things have changed since last I came to the US. Last time I didn't need a visa. Now I think you have to do some kind of application to enter the country. I'll have to look into it (or I'll see if Lore knows).
c) oh, and the amount I said, Jenn, is actually US$ (as the Aussie dollar has been even--if not a couple of cents higher--than the US$ and has been for the last month or so)

I do need to talk to one or two people before saying that, yep, it's ok.

And I admit that I do feel uncomfortable about this, at least in the sense that I know that the US is, economically, a lot more f**ked than we are here in Oz. I'll certainly think about it but will have to consider how I can return the favor (or at least give people back the money once I get some work--I do get work contracts once in a while through Mr Seareach's company).

Anyway, thank you again. :)

Sea, you can do it for $2,500 - including accommodation. That's what I am doing.

Is this gonna be the biggest so far?

Really?! Even with the flight from LAX to Albuquerque? I was thinking that would be expensive. I checked out VirginBlue after I messaged you and saw their flights are slightly cheaper (and I really *don't* want to fly Qantas at the moment). Did you do it through a travel agent or just online bookings yourself? Surely I can afford this! :?

That's including the flight AND the hotel (which are booked separately). The return flight, including insurance, cost me $1,500. I booked it via webjet.

Thanx Lore. Webjet (when I looked at it the other day) didn't list the cheaper VirginBlue flights for some reason. Who knows why. I'll look into it.

Let me know as soon as you can about the visa stuff. I think that may be the biggest kicker in all this.

nah, the visa isn't a problem (just checked it).

Australia is part of the visa waver program (if you're coming for a holiday). The only thing that has changed since I last came was this new electronic registration thingo (sorry, can't remember the name of it). You have to do it preferable 72 hours before departure but you can do it anytime (like, way before that). It only costs $14US and is valid for 2 years (or until your passport expires). Easy peasy! :)

To me. Send them all to meeeeeeeee!!

But really folks. Help Sea first. I really want to come, but it won't be anywhere near as costly for me to get there, and if I'm able to get a part time job (so far everyone has been telling me I'm too qualified. Do I need to dumb down my resume??) I should be able to fund myself. Maybe. I do have a backlog of bills, but whatever. Having two kidneys is for suckers. Also the well off.
