Still new here, and so far only read pp 1 & 8 of this thread; tempes fugit innat, but will get back to SEE you all.
Wow Caer; hiya again, brave man; esp being a NCO in the US Navy (I know more about that than...).
Anyway, I am a person of some age, getting on for more than I could have hoped for ("it's better to burn than to fade away); ("and you have burned so VERY VERY brightly, Roy.") and I do not like/ want to accept this. Hoo har.
Unfairness really rankles on me; bullying, gunboat diplomacy, all forms of oppression. Live and let live I say, conditional on infringing on anyone else's freedom. Anarchy rules ok.
Life is for living; if something's worth trying, do it twice; you may have been wrong/misled the first time. If it's worth doing, then do it to excess.
But be cool and hurt no-one, unless they hurt you first.
Everything was beautiful and nothing hurt.

Heh. Brave, me? Good to see a fellow squid and TC fan. We already share some philosophies, so we'll have to share some sea stories.

My name is Marc, a student in Ontario, Canada. This is the twelfth forum where I will (hopefully) become a regular. I have exams for this and next week, so I probably won't be around as much as I would like, though after that I am sure that I will be around a lot more.
About a year ago the Thomas Covenant chronicles were recommended to me by a friend, so I went out and bought them. I started reading Lord Foul's Bane two or three weeks ago, and I finished the first chronicles last week. I'm taking a break from the Land, though I will probably end up reading the second chronicles soon.

If it's a chance to prove your quality you want, it sounds like you could easily do so in Vespers, our music forum. I like some indie stuff as well but am horrible at finding it unless someone points it out to me. I've been known to bribe... er, reward generously for good posts in Vespers.
And if you like sci-fi, I could also recommend Gene Wolfe's Book of the New Sun. Ah, and if you're into anime and such , I know of another board you could check out (also has some japanese language and culture discussion).
Heh, but enough shameless plugging. Welcome to Kevin's Watch.

Why didn't you tell me sooner?! *runs to Vespers*

I've just bought that, based on the fact that you made a whole site about Wolfe

Haven't started it yet - I have to finish Hogfather, then read Neverwhere before I can start New Sun.

My real name is Lonnie Thompson, age 42. While writing this, I am playing hookie from an electrical design that I need to do for a Dept of Conservation renovation project that is due at the end of February. (I'm really tired and have reached the limit of my brain's capacity!! Please don't tell anyone...)
I'm single - Just can't seem to find the right person... I've lived in Missouri for 25 years - ever since high school. I earned two engineering degrees at the University of Missouri back in 1984: Electrical and Computer Engineering. I decided to go back to school to earn a Mechanical Engineering degree a couple of years ago because... I'm a glutton for punishment and I just got a hankering for learning new things for some reason. Unfortunately, I ran out of money last fall so have had to postpone - I have about 13 classes to go, but hey, I was able to raise my overall GPA a slight amount (because I studied this time.)
And of course, I am a total book nut, especially for all of Stephen Donaldson's books. They just seem to resonate with me.
I've had a great time reading through everyone's posts. It's cool how diverse this group is!
So, here's to possibly seeing some of you at Elohimfest in June - I have no idea how I'm going to be able to wait with any amount of dignity for Runes to come in October.
P.S. - By the way, when I joined the Watch, I was really heavy! My doctor finally threatened me with surgery (after years of telling me to lose by doing something strange like EAT LESS AND EXERCISE) so I caved and went on a diet and lost about 145 lbs. I've really learned a lot while losing the weight and now as I am keeping it off. Wish I would have figured this out about 10 years ago. I would highly recommend sitting down with a Dietician and/or Nutritionist if you are having problems!!
