I have the originals on disk, and I just resized the images until they looked like a good size loaded on my screen. :)

As for finding the art thread, blame Loremaster. He pointed me there. :D I would have found it eventually. :) A good thread never dies. . . the Women in History thread sounds promising. :)

Explain this, please. . .

These are pictures of the first lock system of it's kind in North America. I know it's located in Manitoba, near Skinner's restaurant, but I can't remember the name of the place.

well uh...i was just thinkin... ...since you'd kind of posted in a wide eclectic variety of threads so far, i was thinkin to encourage you to go on in the Boys Club (more commonly referred to as The Hile Troy Think Tank) and well...post in some topic or other on which you could speak eloquently and perhaps SHOW THE BOYS UP!! (mostly because i haven't been able to thus far and i want to experience it vicariously through you!)

ok
ok
it's evil, i know.
i'se just trying to ramp up the female presence in the Tank and your pics were good and your poetry was good and so i thought whatever topic you could think of to join in the discussions in there would be good too and thus, my little headline...get it?

Ah. . I see. I shall work on it, Luci. You know, Waddley told me to obey you. . that was one of her rules of being here. I told her that I would obey anything that you said that made sense to me. :D

On the other hand, the Tank could be called the Stomping Club. No reason to bloody your boots in it unless you enjoy that kind of thing.

Lyr, may I borrow your Port of Capri for wallpaper?

These pictures are uniformly awesome. :) I salute those of you who know how to operate a camera to artistic effect.

I hope this isn't the wrong place to ask, but not long ago people were talking on another thread about cameras, and I seem to remember people recommending the Cannon A610. I need to get a better camera before I go to Europe -- would this be a good model for someone like me, whose skills are rudimentary at best? I'd hate to lay out for a new machine I can barely operate.

Yes, jwaneeta, Wayfriend mentioned he had purchased the A610 and was happy with it.

While I'm at it, allow me to mention two terrific websites I've come across for digital camera reviews:

www.cameras.co.uk/ -- a smartly organized site with clearly written, no-nonsense reviews and advice. The best thing is that every review includes sample pics, so you can judge picture quality for yourself.

www.imaging-resource.com/DIGCAM01.HTM -- even more in-depth reviews and testing procedures, though necessarily making this site more cluttered to navigate than the other one. Also includes sample pics of each camera tested.

The reviewer at the UK site says that the Sony cameras he's tested are consistently the most user-friendly. The Canon models are just a notch below Sony for ease of use, as Canon usually incorporates more functions and thus more buttons appear. But the menu systems for both Sony and Canon are quite helpful, according to the reviewer.

For quick-and-dirty reviews on the spot, Cnet is okay, too, but they don't have sample pics as far as I can see.

Hope all this helps everyone! :)

Thanks for the links, Matrix and Creator. I tried for the A610, but they told me at the camera place that they're no longer available. I ended up getting a Cannon A540, which has a nice big display and is probably more my speed anyway. It certainly was easy to set up and install. (I'm one of those who works from the Basic user's manual. )

Oh, and it has a really nice function for taking closeups. I cuddle my new toy!

Certainly! But if you sell it, I want a cut of the profits. ;) Kidding!
