I can see "The Rock" playing either Bannor or Stave

Yeah, he would definently work. Although, his head is a little big for his body, it appears to me. So, he could eaither bulk up his body a little bit to match his big head, or.....

.....he could play the part of Handir!

Bannor

I always thought Eric Bana would look great as Bannor. Has the physique and impassivity of the Bloodguard

I see it's been awhile since anybody had a brain burp on the haruchai and my brain just had a really big hiccup following a burp.
Showing my age here, does anybody remember a 1979 flick called "A Force of One"? Yes it was a Chuck Norris movie- but I'm not thinking of Chuck. The character "Sparks" was played by Bill "Superfoot" Wallace, a Karate and Kick-boxing champ. This Sparks was dark, muscular, fairly short for a man and has the flat face, intense dark eyed look. I looked him up just a little bit ago and can't find the young pics of him from that long ago but even now, older, sorta pale and balding/gray- he has the look if he tanned. It wouldn't take much to prep his appearance as one of the "older" Haruchai. Watching some exhibition matches on u-tube, Bill is STILL built like a brick!! He has the moves too!
Personally I see the Haruchai in my head as dark but not African.

I've always imagined the haruchai to resemble the New Zealand maori.

Although I have always thought of the Haruchai as being more of the african descent, ever since I saw a few episodes of sg-1 I thought that christopher judge would make an excellent bloodguard. But before that my inspirations were Micheal Dorn and the guy from BeastMaster, the one who warded the prince.

This may sound ridiculous, but I always thought of Bannor as 5'7", gold-skinned and bald, bone structure like a thin and muscular, eastern-european/turkish man...didn't really pay attention to SRD's descriptions until I saw them on here and read Gilden-fire, lol

How about Jason Scott Lee? I think he'd be great as a Haruchai!

PS - How do I post a pic? Thanx!

Make sure it's not too big, though.

Lee would be good.

Welcome to the Watch, tramp. Why not introduce yourself over in the Summonsing forum?

It would help if you could post something more specific, maybe a picture.

Okay, okay, I've got it... wait for it. He could play any of the Haruchai. He practically already has!!!!

Come on, I cannot think of a more likely Haruchai on the planet :)

Wait for it.......

I am re-reading the chrons & just started TIW - I now have a face for Bannor (who is probably my favorite character)!
This is how I've pictured the Haruchia - mostly as Asian/Japanese "samurai" looking men with the expressionless facade, but "you know somethings going on behind there" feel.
I'd give Takeshi the part!
Earthy

exnihilo wrote:It seems like the Bloodguard ought to be ethnically distinct from anyone else in the movie... SRD has described them (in his imagination) as inspired by South Asians.
I always pictured the Aleut or Tlingit people. Short, compact, earthy, strong and independent, a separate culture and race.

Thanks to his role in 'The Mummy', I keep picturing Oded Fehr as Bannor:

I picture most of the other Haruchai as vaguely southeast-Asian-looking guys, like less-chunky versions of Lawrence Makoare.
