Feel better soon, Av. |G

I am bloody well exhausted. I worked through lunch nearly every day this week in order to clear my desk before I went on vacation. Before I went in this morning, I thought everything was under control. Oh haha, it is to laugh. Three more projects got dumped in my lap when I walked in the door. I had to work through lunch again *and* stay an hour late just to get it all done. :(

Then I went to the pharmacy tonight to pick up a prescription, a decongestant that you have to sign for, and a gift card for Magickmaker. The clerk sidetracked me with the folderol over signing for the decongestant and the gift card activation, plus I was tired. Didn't realize 'til I got home that I'd forgotten to get the prescription. Will have to go back in the morning to pick it up. Bah.

Well, the apocalypse didn't happen yet again. So at just past 6 I walked around the store pretending to be a zombie and amusing my associates. I also gave two of my fellow manager's some grief about my superior closing skills. They took it in good humor. All in all a good day.

Helldog aka Mya is sick. She hasn't eaten in almost two days, she is having tremors and throwing up. I noticed yesterday during our walk that she was walking slowly and NOT pulling 8O . We will go to the vet tomorrow (who needs to pay rent anyway). I really like this lunatic dog and I hate seeing her sick.

IIRC, you said Helldog was chasing a possum a couple days ago. Hopefully, she did not catch it, as they carry a bunch of diseases.

Get well, Helldog!

after art car parade went to art car museum.

julie was talking to a volunteer there and was describing some of the work we have presented over the last 5 years,

the gentleman behind the counter told that volunteer - pointing in my direction and without word from julie - (i had gone to look at stuff) - "he did the guitar."

the guitar being my tribute to tom, the curator killed a few years ago by a drunk driver outside the museum.

it felt so good that someone remembered and appreciated a piece of work i had done. :):):)

julie told me this in the car later. made my day, week, etc.

Congrats danlo, hope you two stay together forever. My divorce was like having an arm amputated. Sure, it was gangrenous, and keeping it attached would have killed me, but I'm no longer complete.

Congrats, Danlo. I look forward to meeting both of you in June. I guess we will be having a "Tamlofest" next year at this time for your twentieth

congrats. :)

17 yrs for me and julie.

3 day work week this week and that is proving three days to many. right before dinner - as we were set and ready to go - they locked down two wings and requested johnnies (sack meals) for them.

already behind managed to pull it off - only giving the state about 20 minutes of free time.

I did, and the next morning I went back to get the prescription and found nobody in line ahead of me at the pharmacy window. 8O Had a nice chat with the pharmacist, who sent good wishes to Magickmaker on her graduation. :)

And so here it is, Wednesday. The world did not end, Magickmaker is all graduated, and everybody is moved out of their former living spaces -- besides moving Magickmaker out of the dorm, I also helped Batty and her girlfriend take the last loads of schtuff from their old apartment to their new one. *So* tired of moving....

We are now in southern WV at Pipestem Resort State Park. We have a cottage (with a carpenter bee taking up residence in the ceiling above Batty's bed -- the exterminator is due to stop by today). The only place in the whole park with free wifi is the main lodge's lobby, so that's where I am right now. Later we will probably play mini-golf and maybe take a hike. We must also work in our traditional ping-pong game sometime today. Ping-pong is more fun if you count shots that hit the floor as "in play" -- trust me on this.

Anyhow, going home tomorrow. Then we get to move all of Magickmaker's stuff into my apt, and move furniture around in the living room so that she has a little privacy. But at least we will have had a few days of rest in between. :)

:) Congratulations, all round!

Had my first day working in the shop's canteen. Was on my own for much of the time. Luckily we weren't too busy.

At lunch time I sat at the same table as Terry Waite. A genuine vip.
I didn't say much, except when he said that he had to eat another pie, and I said something along the lines of - well you need it Terry, you being a big bloke!
I felt a bit stupid really. Kinda like Lee Evens, in The 5th Element - b-big, so...so b-b-big!

helldog is getting better. :D Vet thinks she may have been poisoned. People feed her outside all the time so she takes food from strangers. The mailman HATES her (not that I blame him) and I am suspicious. :?

Congratulations to Magicmaker! My niece also graduated college last weekend. I don't know if she's moving back or staying out there for now.

I think I'm going to take a storm spotting course when it's offered up by the Weather Service next. To be clear, storm spotting isn't like what those fellows do who chase tornadoes around, they are storm chasers. A spotter merely identifies what is happening and calls it in... and stays out of the way. I went last night and took a tour of the county's emergency communications center. It's all part of ham radio that I took up last fall.

It wouldn't even need to actually be what we consider poison, either. Isn't chocolate poisonous to dogs? Could she have been given chocolate by some kids or something?

anything is possible but chocolate is a long slow damage, this was quick, about 4 hours. I am hoping she just got into something bad but this is a funky town with lots of crazy people.

taking down part of the ceiling at work when a huge portion came down. light fixture included.

this is the light that the inmates have been placing their home made alcohol atop for the heat to help in fermenting.

when it broke free the live wire did as well. had to call maintainance to have the line capped and taped up.

fed the turtles, nutrias and birds fresh corn , carrots and some boiled eggs.

I'm so tired. We were short two people again tonight and so I had to bust ass at closing to get the store looking decent and Sabrina was so busy trying to catch up in the copy center that I did cash office and we didn't have time to clean it so we left it a disaster zone. Oh well, we did the best we could under the circumstances, especially considering I spent a good amount of my time as the backup cashier when I should have been doing recovery on the store. I still think it looks better than when Ed closes. The visit from the bigwigs was postponed to next week so that at least gave me some breathing room on my cleaning projects.

Have fun with the apartment rearranging, Ali. Glad to hear helldog is feeling better but that sucks about the possibility of poisoning. Sorry to everyone who had a rough day and yay to everyone who didn't. We all just have to remember that the tough days happen so we can better appreciate the easy days.
