Wow, lurch.
Sunrise is never that vibrant here, and sunset rarely so.
Beautiful.

Beautiful.
When I went to bed last nite, the sky was clear, but the weatherman was saying,," 20% chance of rain tomorrow.." When I woke up this a.m. I simply put on my clothes, grabbed my camera and went out side and looked up. I realized I needed to be on the roof and went there. What I'm trying to say is..I intentionally kept the trees and hills in the shots to demonstrate how the sky here is so incredible, so like nothing else and thus so inspiring. Sunsets and sunrises just beg to be played with, have fun with. They scream at me to.. " DO SOMETHING". I often feel panic in the the time it takes to adjust exposure from one perspective to another, because I just know I'm missing something behind me or to the left or right..Its all over in about 15 to 20 minutes. I have begun to think of just taking movies of it all and just grab the best frame from each flick. Its a pretty intense session to participate in and yet..even what I present here,, doesn't do it justice. But hopefully, you get the idea.

Lurch, I had no idea you were in the Phoenix Valley. I live in Mesa and I swear, the sunrises and sunsets in Arizona are the most amazing thing I've ever seen. Sometimes, the sunsets are so vibrant that they turn the entire world pink at dusk. It is beautiful.

Hey Sarge..keep an eye on those two during the rest of Nov and into Dec. Jupiter will join Venus and when the next first quarter moon comes around (Dec) all three will be real close together.

Sgt.Allow me to suggest,,.it is unadvisable to point digital camera (or any camera or lensed device) at sun.
Your eyes are the first concern...and the second concern is the light recording chip of the camera..both have sensors that can be damaged by the simplest magnification of suns energy by the simplest of lens....One should never look directly at the sun when its more than 15 to 20 degrees above horizon ,period. Only heavily filtered devices should ever be used when looking at eclipses and even a brite moon. You Will hurt your eyes otherwise and the damage may not show itself right away. Be careful.

Hmmm...Fantasy Beach Hour?
Spectacular upside down gallery, Lurch. Trippy! In a
2001: A Space Odyssey sort of way.
Thought I'd have a little fun with Photoshop this time. I just tried for a subtle effect with the filters. So, submitted for your perusal
and approval, some shots of our first snowfall last week:
"Paint Daubs" filter applied to these:
"Diffuse Glow" filter applied to these:
