I would wager that was you, Sarge, speaking to it in its native language.

Sarge knows 8088 assembler? Or is it pure machine code that he speaks?

If dAN is correct in his accusation of Sarge, this clearly implies it is possible to tell lies in these low-level languages. Can any of us ever trust our computers again?

I learned French first, then when I learned English - I lost the French. but I still think of English as my 2nd language.

and Dandelion has lying in his name....

Come on, SD. The native language of *any* recalcitrant device is cursing.

I was fond of Wayfriend, but probably the part I mourn the most in his vanishment was the death of this thread. I'm thinking of being the producer of a new gameshow basically ripping off this thread, but I don't feel creative enough to be able to come up with the topics. I currently have some WGDs burning a hole in my pocket, and rather than save up for the overwhelmingly difficult items as I originally thought I would, it seems reviving one of my favorite ideas on the Watch would be a better use of my hard earned WGDs. It was always fun to see all the creativity at work, though I never participated, but always meant to. And since I'm funding it, I want to reserve the option to be able to compete as well, if the judging is done by fellow Watchers. And if I win, I just hold on to my WGDs.
So, what I really need is an idea person to come up with the concept each time. We could discuss compensation, as it seems a bit unfair for the person who is creating the topic to compete, but then again, it is being judged by peers, so maybe that would be legit (although they would have the edge on what the topic is each time). What say you all? Is anybody interested in the game anymore?

Upon thinking on it further, we could have everyone throw out topics, and the winning topic (judged by me) could get a bit of compensation. Not the full 500, as I'd prefer the funds to last for a little while.

rewrite the bit about Hile Troy - proving his way to be correct.

Theme Submission: Photoshop a Scene from the Chronicles. (IE: Cast the Chronicles through Photoshopping auditions)

For example, if you wanted to have Angelina Jolie as Elena and Hugh Laurie as Covenant and High Lord Elena, you might stick their heads on appropriately dressed bodies, or even find pics of them dressed appropriately and glue them onto an appropriate background. Maybe use a picture of Sir Ian McKellan in a Blue robe as High Lord Morham, etc.

I don't really care much about WGD, so, I just donated 1000 to the cause
I probably won't compete, but, I enjoy watching and judging

So it sounds like there is some interest. Ok, we'll go ahead with this then. One last question: should we use the same thread showing I am ripping off this idea, or start a new thread to keep it clean for the break in sponsorship.

And thanks, sindatur! That'll keep this going for a bit longer.

New thread. Way might yet come back someday and resurrect this one. (I have nothing to base that on except unreasoning hope. ;) )

Yea, you can put the "Idea Stolen from" in the title of the new thread even, if you don't feel mentioning it in the opening post is sufficient.

Why not keep the thred alive by not having a single host? Anyone could submit a topic as long as there wasn't a current game and they had the loot to pay the prize. Peers would vote as usual, but the topic creator would not be able to comopete. In this way, the burden of creativity would not be on one person all the time, you wouldn't have to wait for one person to save up 500 WGDs, the person who created the topic wouldn't have an unfair advantage and could still play another one soon, the game would be in more constant motion, and everyone could have a chance to submit a topic.

Sure, that's fine, however y'all want to do it. But this thread was Wayfriend's, and in the interest of keeping threads more-or-less on topic (yeah, I know how futile that is...), if it's going to be someone else's WGD on the block, it ought to be in a new thread.

Although, every post we make in this thread is putting cash in Way's pocket, so, when he does return, he'll be a rich man

I don't care if a new thread is started or not. Wayfriend should be acknowlegded in some way for originating it. As for the WGDs, if we don't just keep this thread alive, get someone trustworhty that's not going anywhere to start a new account and then recreate this thread. That way, the $$ can be tracked, separated, and used only for this thread. If you had no money and a good idea, you could just pm him or her to post it for you. Also, I suppose that could keep the votes countable and private.

I just wasn't real keen on the idea of the creator competing, and I liked the idea of multiple topic creators.

I totally agree that Wayfriend should get credit for the idea in any new thread. :)
