Got a good night's sleep last night. The Amtrak train got into Chicago at 5 pm last night, dumping me into Union Station during the height of rush hour. I went to the Metra train that was due to leave at 5:12 for my stop, and was surprised to find one car only partially full. Since I had three bags with me, I hopped right in. There was a reason it was partially full. The A.C. wasn't working, in fact the heater was on in the car. It was like a sauna. I roughed it out for an hour till the train cleared and could get into a car with A.C. for the last half hour of the ride.

I got home to make amends with the Ariel the cat, who had the house to herself for a week. As well as Mani the dog, who spent his time in the kennel. Mani was kind of subdued last night. Since I had my sister pick him up from the kennel and bring him home a couple of hours before I got there, I couldn't help thinking that he was thinking that I was a jag for forcing him to stay at the kennel all week while I was living it up at home .

I don't have to work until Monday, but since it's raining today, I'll go through my pictures from the trip and read Memories of Ice, which I'd downloaded to my kindle before I left Albuquerque. I really have to increase the pace of my reading on that series, if only to keep up with the incessant stream of conversation on the series...

I thought "I was a jag" meant "jaghut". Reminding me of Mork, when Mindy told him he had his suit on backwards: "Boy, do I feel like a clone." But yes, by all means, get moving!!!!!!!!

julie picked Sonny from the kennel yesterday morning. he fussed at julie the entire way home.

then he slept like a log until the am when he fussed all morning walking up and down the hall - begging to go out.

he needs thur and fri with me home to get over the diva act.

I've been up watching the lunar eclipse...made me think of MM since the last one in 2007 him and me discussed taking pics. Don't know what it's like up there in the northern hemisphere (guess you can't see the moon right now?) but, well...if you can see it, hope you're watching it MM.

I guess I've been forgiven for my absence by Ariel and Mani. When I sat down in my chair in order to browse which AATE chapter I would dissect, they both climbed up to sit in my lap.

I'm alternating between joy about good things in my life and frustration at running up various walls of my own dysfunctionalities.
All in all, it's pretty... (I don't know!)

I'm feeling sad about the status of my email account, but I guess I need to call Qwest before I take it out back and shoot it. I don't know if it had to do with a bunch of people jumping on my comp at E-fest or not but I'm in my third day of seeing it send out a link about a teeth whitening kit to all my contacts. Why Qwest? Well, they're my package plan for internet, Direct TV and landline. Since they insist I use MSN MSN insists I use hotmail on my least favorite browser: IE. I've got a Gmail account since youtube insists I have one-but man, switching out is a major PITA. Maybe Qwest can give me some advice, I don't know, I've tried everything short of a factory restore to get rid of this little zombie.

Suggestions welcome.

So was your gmail account hacked then? Mine was recently, but apparently they didn't find anything all that interesting as I don't think they did anything with it. Regardless, the account pw was reset, and I'm sad because it was an easy one to remember before. Oh well.

Here's where you can find a free version of malwarebytes, which is pretty good at removing badness. As for viruses, housecall was a free scanner once upon a time, but I can't comment on how good it is anymore.

Ditto. I had my gmail sending out all kinds of garbage while I was using wireless inside a basketball arena. That was embarrassing. I also just changed my password, and had the same complaint Cag did - the new one is harder to remember.

danlo -- it wasn't me! I use AVG's free version at home. I think it has a plug-in for e-mail. Worth a try, anyhow.

Home again, jetlagged and missing all the Festers and my friend Anne as well. My flight home was an adventure, too. I flew Southwest from Phoenix to ABQ yesterday, and American from ABQ to DC. So I had to go out to baggage claim to fetch my suitcase (did a little shopping in Flagstaff and Sedona ), then check it in with American, then go back through security. I got tagged for a random scan of my hands for explosives residue, and they got a false positive. So then I had to do the full-body scanner, *and* they rifled through all my luggage, *and* I had to have a pat-down as well. They were respectful and all, but jeez, not much fun. (The TSA agent told me there are numerous cosmetic products that can give a false positive. Seriously, why bother with the test if it's not picking up the right stuff? Anyway....) Luckily I still had plenty of time to catch my flight.

Finally landed at home at about 1am (after nearly missing the Dallas-to-DC flight while attempting to catch up with the Fest posts online). Magickmaker arrived in her PJs to pick me up.

Then I had to get up at 8:30am for a doctor appointment at 10am, and a dentist appointment at 1pm. Might as well get all the misery out of the way at once, right?

Off today and tomorrow. Back to work Monday, urgh.

No it's MSN hotmail-maybe I should try changing my password, but it seems embedded. I have great malware and virus protection, but somehow my Viper email protection was disabled. I have Gmail and Outlook which I never use. One of my friends had their email compromised through facebook, so it's highly possible it invaded through there...waa
