Very cool patio + garden, Vader. Thanks for allowing us a peek. I envy you! (Being an apartment dweller, I can only dream of such things.) The tiles don't seem that ugly to me, but I wish you success on the makeover.
I'm impatient myself for the spring bloom to arrive here, so I can head out to the park and start taking pictures.

I know precisely jack about photography, but I just bought a new camera (just a little Canon ELPH) and so now I can take pictures of pretty things like flowers! OMG THERE ARE FLOWERS EVERYWHERE ON THIS ISLAND!

Waddley, I hope you use the hell out of your camera. That's the best way to learn photography, in my opinion - and flowers were made for photography. Please post more pics!
Oh, and remember to use your camera's macro function for extreme close-ups of flowers (and bees and such)!

Yeah, I pass them every day on my way to work. I'm going to have to take different routes, though, to get different flowers. Shucks

I'm glad you can name them, ali. I like flowers, but I'm bad at recognizing any particular species.
Waddley wrote:Yeah, I've been using macro. For everything. I love the crisp subject and the fuzzy everything else, and that seems to be what does it
Ah, okay...it's just that you can get
really close to a subject in macro mode. Canon digicams are especially good at macros, so you made a fine purchasing decision.
If your ELPH has aperture priority control (Av), set it to the widest aperture available (the lowest f-number) and that will help to isolate your subject and throw the background out of focus. F2.8 is usually the widest aperture available on compact digicam lenses. (Of course, macro mode usually picks the widest aperture itself.)
Sorry, I ramble...

No, please ramble away. The more the better! I have no idea what you just told me to do... but I'll finger it out and experiment! Thanks again

ok help!!! I am trying to put up an image from my photobucket and I'm messing the heck out of it. Any guidance would really be appreciated!

When you upload to photobucket you can hover your mouse over the uploaded thumbnail image and it gets you a little pop up box. In, I believe, the fourth box down there is the [img] tag. Click on it and it copies and then just paste it here!
Hope that helps! (sorry, had to write it in a hurry)

Ok, you're copying the wrong one... I'm not even sure what you're copying, because it should be img not s583... anyway, here's a handy picture!
Click on the thing that the arrow is pointing at and then paste it here
