Well, except for Sunset Boulevard. I'm not sure why that movie is so hyped. It's a good movie and all, but it's not The Apartment or anything.

Such things truly test the limits of my Loving nature. How one can have such a name, and such an avatar, yet be so horribly backward about this movie... *sigh*

Add to my list "Reservoir Dogs" which I watched for the first time last night. I don't understand myself sometimes. I hear all these great things about Quentin Terentino movies, and I rent those movies KNOWING they're going to suck ass, I watch them, hate them, regret watching them, and then come here and bitch about it. I must be retarded.

I actually agree with most of what everyone has posted. And no one has posted anything that I absolutely loved.

But I can see anyone making a good arguement about the overratedness of any of these movies.

Oh, and I just wanted to say while people were talking about the new Bond, I saw it with my dad last week, and I fell asleep in the middle of it, heh.

Of course, it was a 10:30 pm movie, and I was tired as heck. But there's just something about Bond movies that have never worked with me. For some reason I can never sit through any of them without getting bored to tears.-jay

When I was in high school, I read all of the old Ian Fleming Bond books. I like the older movies that are based directly on the books. I'm not really partial to any of the lead actors. Heck, On Her Majesty's Secret Service is probably my favorite (book and movie). The stories just aren't as convoluted as the newer movies with original scripts. I find that the newer ones are really hard to follow (I haven't seen Casino Royale yet; but don't read the book, it's gawdawful!). The last one with Pierce Bronson put me to sleep. I have no idea what it was about, now or when I was watching it. The producers seem to be too interested in hopping from one exotic locale to another, without paying much attention to continuity or developing a coherent storyline.

Good points, Farm Ur-Ted. That last Bond movie of Brosnan's was atrociously bad.

I know this is going to piss people off, but I can't stand the Matrix movies. The first one was sort of interesting, but the 2nd and 3rd ones blew donkeys.

See, I knew it.

Ohhhh, maybe I'm THE ONE, and I can fly and stuff.

Someone give me a red pill so I can forget those movies.

Yeah, I agree about the Matrix series. The first was interesting, the last two sucked.

At least the second one had that sweet highway scene.

That last movie had nothing. Just a total letdown.-jay

The first Matrix is as good as it gets. If they had stopped there, they'd have achieved all that could be achieved.

Alas, they didn't stop there. I'm not much of a fan of the third either. It had its moments, I guess. Mainly the visuals, most particularly Neo vs. Smith. But incredible a spectacle as that was, it wasn't worth the movie for me.

Reloaded had many great things, however. The Architect was just the coolest guy. Great attitude, great self-control. It was nice to learn the stuff he revealed. (Not nice to become confused because of what he didn't reveal, of course.) And hell, his voice alone was worth it. :D

Morpheus might seem a bit much to many, but I always like seeing that kind of absolute faith.
All of our lives, we have fought this war. Tonight I believe we can end it. Tonight is not an accident. There are no accidents. We have not come here by chance. I do not believe in chance. When I see three objectives, three captains, three ships. I do not see coincidence, I see providence. I see purpose. I believe it our fate to be here. It is our destiny. I believe this night holds for each and every one of us, the very meaning of our lives.
Great stuff!

The Merovingian was cool. If his message/meaning wasn't the most original idea in the world, he was certainly a lot of fun! "OK, you have some skill." "Goddammit woman, you will be the end of me."

And Link rocked! Great bit of acting.

The fights were beyond cool. The first one of the movie, against the agents; against the Merovingian's people; my god, against the Smiths!; and who could have imagined that, with all that to be compared to, a one-on-one fight, Neo vs. Seraph, would be so freakin' amazing!!

And, of course, the highway. As a rule, I hate chase scenes. I can't understand what, considering their proliferation in movies these days, must be the public's extreme love for chases and explosions. Lame plot device, imo. However, this one is clearly better than the rest. The agent jumping from car to car; the fight with the one Twin inside the car; Morpheus vs. the Agent; Trinity on the motorcycle...
