Ok, so it was my intent to just eat my sandwich but my boss's sister brought him lunch and insisted on pouring me a huge bowl of borscht and making me eat it. I actually hate beets. But I forced it down with a smile. Ugh. Now I am way way way overly full and grossed out. Why can't people take NO THANK YOU for a freaking answer. WHY?

Oh Jenn...

I don't know how to reply to that.

Was it home made borscht? Served cold with sour cream and a boiled potato? Oh..heaven...

She made me eat pirougies too. I said, only one please and she went and piled seven on my plate. My sides actually hurt I am so overful. Yes the borscht was homemade. So were the pirougies. Gah. She is very sweet and I didn't want to hurt her feelings but seriously, I feel force fed.

Leftovers from last night.
The two bits of steak are with the rib roast awaiting strog and the mashed potatoes are added to my own.
But I just had the rest. :)

I quickly blackened the rest of the tuna in browned butter. The interior did cook a little more, but the heart remained a bright red rare.
I heated the mushrooms, broccoli, and spinach for three minutes in the microwave.

...now I'm ready for a nap...

There was a work potluck today. I forced myself to have a bite or two of each of the following:

Kentucky Corn Spoon bread
Green Bean Casserole
Hashbrown Casserole
Broccoli Salad
ham
Pumpkin Crunch cake

And I didn't eat the following:
fried chicken
Old Settler's Beans
deviled eggs
mango salsa and chips
cheesecake with raspberry sauce
triple chocolate cake
banana pudding
veggie tray
some Russian cookie

Cold meds make it easy to restrain yourself at these things. :D

It's cafeteria food today. I had:

chicken cordon bleu
succotash
mashed potatoes and gravy
peach cobbler

The peach cobbler was the best thing on my plate. If I were prescient, I would have skipped everything else and only have eaten the cobbler. The rest was a waste of calories. ;)

Today's lunch:
* leftover cheesy-chickeny casseroley thing (see below)
* sweet red pepper strips
* 1 c. plain nonfat yogurt
* either the mangy banana or the tangerine -- I brought both and will eat one now and one this afternoon
* 100-cal. pack of Trader Joe's chocolate graham toucan cookies

The chicken-cheese thing: This is a Weight Watchers recipe I got when I joined several years ago and had never tried. It's basically boneless, skinless chicken breast; pasta; cream of mushroom soup (I used lower fat, lower sodium) thinned with skim milk; and nonfat Cheddar cheese. It seemed very light on veggies so I added some broccoli. Then it seemed low on taste. :( I've been modifying the leftovers with some garlic powder, pepper, and an herb; I think last time I used thyme (to complement the mushroom soup) but today I'm trying dill (to complement the broccoli). I've got one more serving in the freezer, so maybe next time I'll go wild and try both dill *and* thyme.

Kosher salami sandwich on honey wheat with Guldens and fresh cracked peppercorn
Ramen with broth made from store bought chicken base
(so much better than the powder package that comes with the ramen)

With the talk of jarred spaghetti sauce in another thread, I remembered I had bought some Bertolli Vodka sauce to try. So penne pasta with blush sauce (there is no vodka flavor that I notice).
