The centerpiece of the movie-mad comedy "Matinee" is "Mant," an expert, side-splitting parody of an early-1960's black-and-white horror film. "Half Man . . . Half Ant . . . All Terror!!!" proclaim the ads for this low-budget opus, which tells of a mishap involving man, ant and X-rays at a dentist's office. The human patient is accidentally transformed into a large, buggy mutant, leading him to exclaim, "Go, my brothers and sisters!" while smashing an ant farm to smithereens.
His worried wife (Cathy Moriarty) pleads: "Oh, Bill! If you could just listen to the man in you and put the insect aside!" Kevin McCarthy, star of the original "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" and one of this film's many fond reminders of real horror classics, turns up with a megaphone to shout: "Come down off that building! We've got sugar for you!" And the dentist (William Schallert) tries to be consoling when he says: "By the way, I did get your X-rays back, Bill. I don't suppose it makes much difference to you now, but you didn't have a single cavity."

Well, Jenn didn't bring 'em to Denver, I can tell you that much.

we did have a short conversation about them, where she mentioned that she told her niece(?) that she had an ant farm where all the ants were named Cyndi. Her niece liked the idea so much, she got an ant farm(possibly she already had one?) and also named all her ants Cyndi. So there are 2 ant farms out there where all the ants are named Cyndi. That seems to indicate to me that Jenn has at least a few ants left in her ant farm. But I was a little distracted, and forgot to ask for details about them...

The ants are doing just fine. Still alive and kicking although I think I am down to eleven now.

You need to set up an ant cam, Jenn.
BTW, I was just now googling ant cams and discovered that an ant home is called a
formicary.

So that would make "formication" the process of setting up an anthill?? Who'd'a thunk that's what SRD meant!

Aphid farming
Sugar ants collect secretions made by plant-eating insects. Of these, aphids are the most prominent. Sugar ants tend aphids much like farmers tend their stock, moving them around and protecting them from predators. This type of behaviour is mutually beneficial to both parties, as the ants protect the aphid from predation and the aphid provides a sap-like liquid to the ants.
