that sounds painful... but perhaps on can find meaning in the pain?

in other news, another forum I go to recently went through a sort of epidemic where a good part of the active posters equipped themselves with cave story avatars and sigs. I was one of the first to start the snowball effect.

I can make the Vulcan salute without difficulty. (I was surprised when I learned that not everyone could. I still don't believe it. I think people are just trying to see how gullible I am.)

I'm in my thirties and I still don't drive.

I have never been outside of Canada since arriving as a child.

I once went to 103 movies in a single year (1993).

12 months ago I purchased my Canon A710 digital camera. In that time I have taken 4,347 photos with it - and that's only counting the ones I have actually saved. That works out to an average of around 12 pics a day.

I do not drink alcohol, something that surprises my friends to no end. I always get asked whether it's for religious reasons, and people are surprised when I say I just don't like it. My friends in particular seem to have made it their mission to get me drunk someday, because they feel what I do is not right. No matter how often I refuse, they keep coming.

I have published a paper in a scientific journal, and am working on a couple more at the moment.

In 2004, I wrote a D&D adventure for the national D&D tournament in Italy, and I received the award for Best Characters.

I practice medieval swordsmanship, though I'm only a beginner at this point.

Congrats! Xar , I've always wanted to study sword play. Right now, I'm still trying to master the piano. And Congrats on the writing accomplishments as well. :)

Like MM, I'm in my 30's and I also don't drive

I have an irrational fear of the ocean (which is why I live at the beach...go figure)

And I was head boarder prefect at my boarding school.

Speaking of irrational fears I am mortally afraid of ghosts. I can't watch ANY kind of ghost show on TV, no matter how ridiculous and hokey. I always end up extremely paranoid and wake in a cold sweat in the middle of the night, get afraid of the dark, etc.

Insects freak me out, especially roaches. The first apartment I lived in was a disgusting place and every morning I woke up to a cockroach somewhere on the floor. I became so paranoid that I couldn't sleep at night because I kept feeling them bite me (yes, cockroaches bite). I eventually moved out after the cockroach thing and after having too many drifters knock on my door at 2 am (I lived right next to a highway, which was next to some train tracks, which was next to a Tyson chicken factory).

As if you couldn't tell, I am extremely paranoid and neurotic. I also have a type of social anxiety disorder, so it's a surprise my husband puts up with all of my crap.

I've never broken a bone.

I'm not a big drinker.
One or two beers every few weeks maybe, and usually just when I cook for some reason.
I had a very good friend, who used to drink like a fish, once ask me why I don't drink more. I said "because it tastes like crap" His reply, "well that's true." :D

Yeah, me too. When I was 18 I started smoking pot, and one friend in particular would wait till I was stoned, and then hand me a cigarette. I'd refuse to take it, saying I didn't want to pick up a bat habit (ironically I never feared pot that way), and he'd get all angry and tell me to loosen up. I quit pot by the time I was 20, because I didn't really see the point of it.

I can't eat shrimp because they squeak when you bite into them (it makes me nauseous), but I can eat black olives which also have a tendency to squeak.

I don't like potato chips (known as crisps to our friends in the UK).

I have a horror of eating undercooked (or uncooked) meat, and was very proud of myself when I tried tuna tartare at a party a week ago. :D

WOW! I saw a documentary on medieval swordsmanship. It looked like truly a complex martial art; it seemed every bit as sophistcated as far eastern swordplay. It was far more complicated and deadly that the clashing of swords seen in the movies!

Got you beat: I took over 2,000 photos in two weeks in London. My index-finger still has a circle where I hit the capture button.

I gained 66 pounds over the summer. Don't try it at home, kids.

I also went to a mental instiution and scared most of the patients (the ones that weren't comatose).

Let's not put each other through that again, OK?
But, I'll still be here, if needed again.

Mayhap the shrimp is a little undercooked, if it squeaks when you bite into it? Does it also try to wiggle away?
