Nod. I have 5 different accounts at the moment. So far, I've avoided posting to one game as a character from another game. (That includes catching it when I've done it and quickly deleting the post before logging in as the RIGHT account and re-posting the same text.)
I'm sure I just jinxed myself, of course.

*nod nod nod*
I've done it in Game threads on
this account.
I have yet to do it in one of my other PCs from another game.
Probably because I scan them all in this account first, and then only sign into one of the PCs if I need to post or PM something regarding that particular game...

If you are using another, but don't wish to post it, feel free to PM it to me.
Ooops, my bad. My profile still had the email address from my previous time at the Watch. I've updated it now, try
yeswell@ymail.com - that should be working.

in the game thread Led Pighp wrote:Led considers the horses, and notes that Barak is on foot. "I think that Skyseeker and I can run fast enough to stay ahead of the bugbears to lead them back to you. And these horses aren't combat trained... they wouldn't react well to bugbears being slaughtered, if you were to use them to charge into the battle once the hornblower was down."
"So, assuming that everyone is in agreement, would you lead us to this ambush, friend? We'll lead them back to you. Most of them, anyway."
[ooc] - This is a deviation from some offline conversations that were had. I found the rule on mounted combat and realized that untrained horses would be a serious hinderance.

Which is what prompted me saying I didn't have the feat that allowed fighting while mounted. I knew there was a reason behind the feat somewhere...

Yeah, I was originally thinking that trying to attack while mounted and MOVING would require a ride check and be a problem. Thought you could ride up, stop moving and then use ranged attacks without danger of falling off. I didn't realize that you'd have to control the mount even if it's not moving. That changes things.

In the Dark Hope campaign here on the Watch (which is currently hidden, so you can't see it right now), my elfin druid's animal companion is a wonderful, wonderful horse.
...I miss her nearly as much as playing Tänya...
She's not a war horse, but I used the tricks an animal companion gets to have Solana "trained for a purpose" at the start, and the purpose I chose was Combat Riding.
That choice has come in handy many times in that campaign so far, but as a bard, is not accessible to Laurel in this one. At least, not as far as I know...

Nope. You'll have to buy a trained war horse, and can then pick combat-related tricks. It's possible, but unlikely, to buy a riding horse that knows one single combat-relevant trick.

as I figured.
*now to figure out what Laurel will do with Hardy and Garvin during the planned ambush with the possibility of a manticore overhead*

oh...
and with two Heshics in the party, would it be possible for Laurel to offer payment to Led or Barak to train Garvin in combat riding over time? If they're willing to take that on as they travel together, I mean...

Double-post!
Re: training the horses... that uses the Animal Handling skill, which Led lacks. He has only the Ride skill. Perhaps Barrak has that skill?
As we progress, our mounts / pack horses are going to become vulnerabilities. They don't gain HP or powers. I imagine an ambush when we're 15th level and our enemies are 15th-17th level... someone lobs a fireball at us... even if it's minor for us, the horses are all dead. So it might be good to keep an eye out for higher-level mounts, so we can trade up as we go.
Better to sell Hardy to a kind-hearted noble with a young daughter, than to watch him burned in front of you.

Good points, Led! Unfortunately, Barak has no special skill with horses, either - sorry Laurel.

Just be sure not to endanger your eligability to ride a Unicorn. They're awesome mounts, for those who can get them.

Lol! Unfortunately, Barak doesn't qualify for such a...pristine mount.

Rumor has it that being an innocent farmgirl would qualify.
