I absolutely ruined my family's traditional New Year's bread by forgetting to put the salt in (doh!). But at least it will make good garlic bread for tomorrow's dinner.
Here's hoping that everyone has a happy and successful 2011!

Sore head - self inflicted.
Happy new year everyone.

None the worse for wear, apparently, after that bottle of wine last night. Spent part of the day teaching myself how to knit entrelac. Made black-eyed peas from scratch (since, by the time I got around to buying them last night, all the canned beans were gone...). Enjoying music on the new stereo. Life is pretty good.

Oh no, don't tell me I have to double-post!
Back to work tomorrow, after an extra day off for New Year's, courtesy of my employer. At least the end-of-year collections craze is over for another 11 months, so it should be relatively calm. I hope.
Tonight I am somewhat annoyed. I got a Bose Wave II for Christmas and would really like to hook the audio output of my TV/DVD into it. (It's always been hard to hear the TV, even with the volume turned all the way up. In nice weather, I have to shut the windows or else ambient noise from outside drowns out the TV. And no, it's not my hearing -- I can hear the stereo just fine, thanks.

)
Should be easy enough, right? All I should need is a cable with the right connectors on either end, right? Au contraire, mon ami. Apparently I need a box to convert the digital audio from the TV to analog audio. And *two* cables, one to get the signal into the converter box, and another to get it out. And you would think that somebody at Radio Shack would have told me that, at some point during the two trips I made there over the past week. Trip #3 will be to take back all the cables and adapters they sold me that were the wrong things.

I spent today revamping the paper merchandising so in essence moving thousands of reams of paper in three size containers, single ream, five ream cases and 10 ream cases. I feel like I got run over by a truck. On the good side, only a few more days left in a store that is perpetually woefully understaffed.

I had a good day hanging out with a friend that I will probably not see again for a year. Thank God for the Internet.

I feel full. Tried two new experiments in the kitchen today and both were raging successes. Bloodguard Bob was groaning and had to go to bed because he ate so much he could hardly move. I made my own twist on Irish Beef Stew and brown bread. It was crackalicious.

Want a heated workplace. Burning the rest of my PTO next week mainly because I can't handle the cold.

PTO = Paid Time Off.
I went back to work yesterday, too.

First day back was crazy. Hoping today is a little calmer, but I'm not betting on it.

Yep, back at work too. It's good to have work to go back to, but it was also good to have a bit of a break!

Luckily for me, (since I'm sick damn it), we started work yesterday, but we don't admit we're open to clients until Monday. We don't even turn on the switchboard until then. These 3 days are just to get back into the swing of things...very quiet and relaxed, no pressure.
(And we're moving offices at the end of this month...that'll suck, but it'll also shave 15 mins off my drive home, so that'll be good.)

I'm gonna get up early and go to the beauty school down the street and get a trim and ask if they can strip the color from the last inch of my hair so I'll have black and white hair for a bit then after a few weeks I am gonna dye the ends bright red.
