Glad to be of service. I actually have an ulterior motive. . . I want to see your reaction to the series. ;)

Bah, it's one of those uncooperative 'credit card only' sites. Is the UK the only country in the world to have debit cards?!

I know this is a strange thing to post about...but looking for an 'affordable fruits basket' sounds funny.

Well anime, for me, is all about the style and quality of the animation.

Anyone know of any shows that are on par with Samurai Champloo's animation style?

I would say FLCL has pretty kickass style, but...you've probably seen it.

I've always liked the art of Vision of Escaflowne. If you haven't seen that series, I'd recommend it. I've always liked the look of Last Exile, a show about people who fly planes and airship sorta stuff around. I've heard Kino's journey has some pretty amazing artwork, though the main character looks sorta weird to me (never seen it). Hmm, it's sorta interesting to me that all three of these shows are at least a little steampunk.

And I really like One Piece's weird character art :) I have a soft spot for One Piece.

Erm, I think the guy who did ghost in the shell has a pretty big following as an artist. But I don't know his name, and I haven't even seen his work -_-

Right... An updated list of every stitch of anime I've seen.

FLCL (favorite series)
Whisper of the Heart (favorite movie)
Neon Genesis Evangelion and End of Evangelion, as well as Rebuild of Evangelion
Cowboy Bebop
Serial Experiment Lain
Love Hina and Love Hina Again (Again was very good, but the series proper was meh)
Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
Howl's Moving Castle
Princess Mononoke
Spirited Away
Gundam 08th MS Team (very good for a Gundam)
Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust
Metropolis
Steamboy
Akira
Ninja Scroll (so-so)

And I know it's a crime, Lore, but still haven't seen Grave of the Fireflies. The last anime I watched was Evangelion, and that was last year. I suppose my anime consumption has plateaued. I'm pretty selective and not seeing much else that meets my standards, so I'm moving onto manga--specifically the monolithic Akira and Nausicaa mangas. My experience with the Love Hina manga had a greater breadth of depth (perhaps due to its sheer size) than even the darker, more epic series of anime I've seen, and only Whisper of the Heart moved me more (which itself was based on a manga).

And for the record, stuff like One Piece or Naruto have never really matched well with my aesthetic, though I appreciate the suggestion Mr. Bucket.

I'm about 35 episodes into One Piece at the moment. I'm kind of enjoying it, in a saturday morning cartoon sort of way, but the art is...hideous.

Howl's Moving Castle was on last night. I made a joke that Howl sounded like Bale's Batman, and just found out a minute ago that Bale voiced the character!

Very good movie, surreal and original.
