Hope everyone gets well!

I'm feeling much better. I still feel the chest pain slightly, but I can jog now, so all's well. I think it's going away--or, at least, the pain is lessening. In about an hour I go eat with my mom and her extended family at some local Italian restaurant where they make everything in bake ovens. I'm amazed I'm managing to keep in shape with all the eating I'm doing and the chest pain!

After the restaurant, I'm going to reward myself for surviving the hectic-ness by buying Guild Wars. Combined with the new Family Guy DVDs I bought, I should have a most glorious weekend (well, whole month, since I'm off).

Well, I had a lovely nervous breakdown at work on Thursday evening, with tears and hyperventilation and hysterics and everything. So everyone I work with now thinks I'm a psycho who cracks under pressure, which I probably am. On the other hand, I also finally managed to hand the causes of said breakdown--"The F---ing Ferns Book"--over to the designer, and convinced my boss that as soon as it goes to the printer I deserve a comp day or two in order to make sure I don't snap irreparably.

PLUS, this is the first day in about a month and a half where I don't have to do anything, so I went shopping (didn't find anything), started Patricia McKillip's Alphabet of Thorn, and am now posting to KW with a nice glass of pinot grigio sitting next to me.

Tomorrow I go to Mother's Day brunch with my bf's family (since mine's 3000 miles away as usual), thereby continuing to raise unfounded hopes in the breast of a woman who desperately wants to be somebody's Mother-In-Law.

I'm feeling much better today. On Friday night I went out drinking and ran into the ex and his new partner and his friends. I was very nice, and actually managed to enjoy myself. This is helped of course by the fact that almost all of his friends have either told me that they think he has made a huge mistake, or that at the very least they are sorry that things didn't work out between us.

Anywho, after one of the friends had told the ex in no uncertain terms that I was there with every else's permission and had as much right to be there as anyone else so deal with it, the ex came over and we managed to have a very successful session of smalltalk.

Then comes the best bit. He says, "Can we have a chat?", to which I replied, "No. This is neither the time nor the place."

"I just wanna say one thing."

"No."

"Just one thing."

"No! I'm tired and drunk and it's one o'clock in the morning. We do need to catch up and have a chat and sort everything out, but not tonight."

That shut him up, the lying, cheating bastard. :D

Good for you, VS. Now you're in charge of the situation. ;)

Which is exactly where I wanted to be. :D

This has actually been a good experience for me. I've learned a lot about myself, including the fact that too often I stand around and let life just happen. Well now I'm the one that's going to be happening, so people sure as hell better watch out.

That and the fact that I'm over the ex as a person; I'm still attracted to the idea of Steve, but Steve the reality is now quite unattractive. :D

Thanks all for your kind words over the past few weeks. |G

Ah, yes, The Idea of Steve. Who hasn't, at one time or another, been stuck on The Idea of Steve? I was stuck on The Idea of Anthony for almost a year after I got dumped. He still holds a special place as The Guy Who Ripped Out My Heart and Stomped It to Bits. There's nothing like it.

Fortunately for us smart people ( |G), Ideas come along as often as we're capable of having them. If it helps any, my Idea of Anthony was followed by The Idea of Matt, and then by the Passing Notion of Barry (yes, "Barry"--you don't even have to ask why he was a Passing Notion ), and currently by the Really Good Idea of Mike, which was truly inspired. :D It all works out. :D |G

Oh, that is so perfect!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Isn't it so weird (and ever so human) how we can can have such a lovely and beautiful picture of someone in our hearts when the real person is really not much like the beloved Idea at all? :? :? :? :?

Oh, Lm, that sucks. :( The flu is the worst. I assume you are drinking lots of fluids and taking lots of naps. I will airmail you some chicken soup, if you need it. Also, I'm betting you've got a copy, but I snagged a Riverside edition of Sense & Sensibility out of the free box at work, and I could send you that...Jane Austen cured my mono (or at least gave me the will to live thru it)--I'm sure she'd work wonders on the flu. ;)

And I will airmail CJ my appendix if he needs a new one (mine's not out yet, but I am an organ donor), and Tracie, all you need to do is ask. |G |G |G |G |G |G
